Obituary of Gladys June Wiersma

Please share a memory of Gladys to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Gladys June Wiersma, 85 of Buhl, Idaho went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 18, 2016 at home surrounded by her family. Gladys was born on May 7, 1930 to Henry and Twila (Marcroft) Plasier in Artesia, California. She was the oldest of five children. She graduated from Clearwater High School and Compton Junior College, both of Compton, California. Gladys met the love of her life, Otto Wiersma at a church youth group called Endeavor. They were married on May 19, 1949 in Hynes, California. Gladys and Otto went into the dairy business in Ontario, California and raised four children on the family dairy as well as providing them all with a Christian education at Ontario Christian School. Gladys was an excellent seamstress and housekeeper as well as cook and baker. She always provided everything her family needed. She also had a gift for beautiful flower gardens which brought her great joy. She worked right along side Otto with the dairy operation which included feeding the cows and cleaning the milk house besides doing all the bookkeeping for their business. Gladys and Otto moved to Buhl, Idaho in 1990 to be near their children and grandchildren. Gladys and Otto were long time members of Lincoln Avenue Reformed Church in Pomona, California where Gladys taught Sunday School, led youth group as well as the Women’s Guild. They transferred their membership to Twin Falls Reformed Church where Gladys was very active with the Happy Hearts and SunShine Circle. Gladys loved the fellowship she shared with her church family and friends. Otto considered himself blessed because, to him, Gladys was the perfect example of Proverbs 31. Her children feel blessed to have her as their mother for the example she set before them with her love and guidance. Gladys is survived by her husband of 66 years, Otto Wiersma, son Jim Wiersma of Valdosta, Georgia, daughters Beverly (Michael) Donahue and Mary Schindel of Meridian, Idaho, Annette (Carmon) Cress of Buhl, Idaho, twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, and a sister Lila (Jim) MacRae of Hesperia, California. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Twila Plasier, brothers, Tony and John Plasier, a sister Linda Terpstra and daughter-in-law, Sandy Wiersma. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 between the hours of 5 and 7 p.m. at the Rosenau Funeral Home & Crematory, 2826 Addison Ave. East, Twin Falls, Idaho. Celebration of Life will be on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at 1 p.m. at the Twin Falls Reformed Church, 1631 Grandview Drive, N., Twin Falls, Idaho.
