Theron will be remembered for his dedication to his church, the love for his family, his desire to help others, and Scouting. Theron was born on October 6, 1935 to Theron Cheney, Sr. and Dorothy Cheney in Sunnydell, ID. He was the oldest of 8 children. Theron attended Rexburg High School. He earned his Eagle Scout in 1953. He participated in many camping trips and in a national jamboree. Theron served an LDS mission in the Great Lakes Region from 1953-55. Theron returned to Idaho and attended Ricks College. He worked for J.C Penny's when he met his future bride, Valene Rodgers from Star Valley, WY. Theron and Valene were married in the Idaho Falls Temple on June 3, 1959. On October 17, 1961, Theron and Valene celebrated the birth of their first son, Allen on October 17, 1961. Val Dee was born on April 3, 1963 and died shortly therafter. Cody arrived on August 27, 1964 and Darrin was born on July 8, 1965. Tamara was born on December 26, 1967. Theron finished his college degree at Minot State University in 1972. He was offered a job as a speech therapist at the school district in Bonners Ferry, ID. For the next 18 years, he saw his kids grow and graduate from school. Theron served many roles in scouting including as a Scoutmaster several times. Theron retired from The Boundary County School District in 1990 as a 4th Grade Teacher. He and Valene chose to retire to Hagerman, Idaho. Theron grew an extra large garden so he could share the fruits of his labors with family and friends. He spent countless hours doing genealogy work and he enjoyed connecting the past to the present. When his and Valene’s health began to deteriorate, they moved back to Twin Falls. Theron was dealing with Alzheimers and other health related issues prior to his death. As a result he was cared for by the staff at the Twin Falls Care Center. Theron will be missed by many — especially his kids and his loving wife. Theron was never shy of hard work and he instilled that trait into his kids from a very young age. Theron always tried to give more than he received and he always shared even when there was little to go around. Now, he is blessed in his rightful place in heaven. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, March 12, 2016 at the LDS Chapel , 2085 N Temple Dr. with family greeting friends one hour prior to services.
