Dear Ruffing Family, we send our most sincere condolences in learning of your mother’s passing. Back in 2005-2006 my husband and I were tenants of your mother’s in the “pink house”. We quickly learned to love and care for her as we did our own grandmothers. My husband worked late and I would often go over and visit her. She knew that I did not drink tea and so she always made me lemonade. Many of the stories you shared I could hear in her own voice. She was such a joy to be around. Mayme quickly became more than just our landlord, she was our dear friend. She inspired me by her desire and insistence of being independent. She really never meet a stranger. She was so proud of you boys and her dear grandchildren. You were her pride and joy. After we left Twin she and I would call each other once or twice a year. She always cheered me up. I’ve tried calling her a few times over the last year. After thinking about her 100th birthday last week I finally did a google search for her and found this. I’ve had such sweet memories of her flood my mind as I have read your stories. Happy 100th Birthday dear Mayme. I’m so glad you got to spend it with your dear Bud. How wonderful it must be for you to be together again. I send all my love to your family. May the sweet memories of you live on forever.
