I didn't know Brian that well. I was just one of those people who came into town and ran to the post office and grab my mail. But Brian always yelled out to me HI DAVE from behind the counter.
It always made me stop for a second from my crazy fast crazy life and say HI back to this guys with a constant smile and a warm heart. Why would he remember me I use to ask myself!
He always made my day!
I didn't know how much he meant to me until he was gone.
God bless you Brian! You brought a smile to so many!

I was so shocked and saddened to hear of Brian's sudden passing. I met Brian many years ago while playing softball in Ketchum when he would officiate our games. He would later umpire my son's football games and of course I saw him several times a week at the post office. At Christmas, when you could see the towers of boxes piling up in the back and people were upset at the counter because their package was missing, Brian would never stop smiling and was always patient. I will miss our fun talks at the counter and I will miss him calling out "See you Angie" when I walk out the door. He was a great man, a constant presence in our tight knit community, and he will be sorely missed. My condolences to Judy and his family. I am so sorry for your loss.

What a shock to read about Brian's passing. We loved visiting with him at the post office. He was always happy, calm and unhurried. He had time for everyone and connected with you in a way that said you mattered. We loved his sense of humor and the twinkle in his eye.

I learned about Brian from Judy, someone I’ve known almost since I moved here in the 1980s. Without even knowing him, I knew he had to be special and quite a guy because he had captured the attention and love of an extraordinary woman and changed her life. Judy, I know this is a tragic shock and it has changed forever the plans for the future you were supposed to have together. I hope the memories of the times that you did get to spend together, the days doing ordinary things, the evenings in town, and the trips you took to Montana to visit where you were going to move to when Brian retired, help give you strength in the days ahead. Please know that there are so many people reaching out to you in prayer and love and sending you all the strength they can during this time of such deep loss. We are always here for you and we will always remember the love you had and I know that Brian is safely ensconced in heaven and always with you in your heart. He will be there as your guardian angel whenever you reach for him.

To Judy and all of Brian's loved ones. I was devastated and heart broken to hear the news. I can only imagine the pain you are going through. When Brian was behind the desk at the Post Office, the energy and lights were 1000% brighter. His job was a challenging and difficult one. Though, he always made everyone and me feel completely cared for. Amazingly, the impact and the way he could help was so much more than a postal worker. Shortly after moving here over 10 years ago, my husband was killed in a plane crash. My son was only 4 years old and of course, our lives were shattered. He made it that much easier by giving me free of charge a replacement PO Box key, as ours was lost in the fire. Over the years, he helped protect us from a dangerous stalker and ensured that we did not receive any threatening mail from him. Recently, a package for me was addressed incorrectly with just my first name. It was sent to the Snow Bunny. When they called Brian, he said, I know who that is rather then just returning to sender.
The Post Office and town will never be the same. Please know I am sending you my love and condolences.

Judy, I have known you since you were a young lass and I wish I had known Brian better other than a neighbor and a friendly greeter at the post office. My thoughts and prayers go out to you, dear Judy and to all of Brian's family.

I feel like I saw Brian almost every day for the past 4 years. I am so shocked and saddened and my deepest sympathy goes out to his wife, family and co-workers. Brian was absolutely, truly one of a kind. He knew everyone by name. He was so out going and kind to anyone in line at the post office. With elderly people, he couldn't be more patient and his light heartedness and kindness made everyone in line feel like we were all on the same page with people that needed a little extra time or care. Like, it's ok, don't get flustered, take the time you need, Brian will take care of you. I saw many times his patience with people that didn't speak English as well. He was never, ever condescending, always helpful and uplifting. What an exceptional person Brian was. He touched so many lives with his warmth and kindness. He will be so missed. And always remembered.

I worked with Brian at the Hailey Post Office for many years. Everyone knew Brian and Brian knew everyone. He knew your name-what a memory! I very seldom saw him without a smile on his face. He not only went out of his way to help customers, but his co-workers as well. My husband & I love to fish as well. Brian came to work one Monday after fishing at Magic over the weekend and was telling me how many fish he had caught. I asked him where on Magic he caught them. Evan though you should never ask that question of a fisherman-he told me!!! That was Brian! I invision him "up there" with a pole in his hand! You will be missed❤️

Along with many others our introduction to Brian was at the Post Office. It is wonderful to read the kind things everyone has to say about his character and life. My thoughts second theirs; he was always, always, always friendly and professional, and made you feel like you were important. My kids felt special by the way he greeted them, even though I'm certain he treated everyone's children the same way. It is very sad to know there will be an absence behind the counter and in his family's circle. Sincere thoughts for peace and comfort to his wife and family. We feel very lucky to have crossed paths and been warmed by his smile.

Brian brought joy to me every time I saw him. My children always enjoyed seeing him at the post office. He made everyone feel special. He was the kind of person I hope my children grow up to be - kind, consistent, gracious, professional. I once saw him handle a customer with such professionalism, it was unbelievable. The customer was very rude and kept trying to get a rise out of Brian. Brian handled it with the utmost diplomacy and never let on that this person was being rude. I watched this in amazement and thought he should teach customer service classes. He was a man who led by example and chose his words carefully. I am so sorry for your loss Judy, and Brian's family and friends. He will be missed greatly.

I loved Brian. We never did anything together other than feel a warmth between us whenever we met. He was indeed a beautiful person whom I'll miss crossing paths with. It's so comforting to know he is a Christian because when my time comes, I know we will cross paths again and enjoy the same warmth between us as we did living here on earth.
What a shock to see his obituary in the paper today. It reminds me of just how precious our friends are and how precious this thing we call life is. He didn't get to make his drift boat here, but our Lord is a wood worker also so he will have excellent advice and companionship and what a drift boat he will create in Heaven.
I'm so sorry I will be out of town for his Memorial. I want his wife Judy and his other family to know what an outstanding person I thought Brian was and how honored I would be to attend the memorial and give thanks for the kindness and humanity he added to my life. I will miss him dearly. Every encounter we had was a blessing I left feeling good about. I was so happy for him that he paid his dues and now was enjoying a well deserved retirement.
I am confident that God will bless his soul as Brian blessed so many others. Not a sparrow falls without the Fathers leave, but it's still hard when such an outstanding person is lost to this world. The good news is we know where he is going and that makes it a little easier than losing someone who chose not to hear the Good News proclaiming Jesus is Lord.
I pray that God will make it easier for his family to go on without him. Our whole community will miss him. Love you Brian. May God bless your soul.

Dear Judy and Family,
I am so sorry for your loss of Brian. He taught me so much about customer service in the way he helped people at the Hailey Post Office. No matter how long the lines or the wait time, when you got to Brian his total focus was on you as an individual. He always made the wait worthwhile.
I can't imagine your grief. What a loss.
Sincerely,
Patty

Dear Judy, Words can not express the sorrow I felt upon learning of Brian's passing. I feel truly blessed to have worked with Brian for many years at the Post Office. He was a kind and thoughtful man, who I am grateful to be able to say, was my friend. Psalm 34:18 says that God is close to the brokenhearted. I pray that you will allow God to wash away your tears and enable you by faith to feel the comfort of his arms wrapped so tightly and lovingly around you. If I can do anything, please let me know. Standing with you in His service, Jane

Like so many of us who live in Hailey and get our mail at the Post Office, looking for Brian behind the counter was the first thing I looked for as I pushed through the door every day. Cheerful and friendly, Brian, if not busy with a customer, would look over and give me a wave and a "Hi Erik". Walking in and out of the Post Office will never quite be the same without our friend Brian there to greet us. May you rest in peace friend.

Not so fast, brother!
We had a lot of fishing in our futures-I guess you will have to save me a place on the pond and get er figured out so when I show up we can wet a line together, again!
I will miss your fine humor, sparkling eyes, ready smile, and easy, easy way.
You, my friend, were one of the best....ever.
I will miss you, Brian.
Love you, buddy.
