In 1972 I was married to LaRue's cousin Larry Arthur, went we took a trip from California to Fort Collins to see Larry's Uncle Shanty and family. Soon after we arrived all the men in the family decided to go fishing. As nice and as welcoming as everyone was I was feeling a little scared and nervous about being left. LaRue noticed this and immediately came to my rescue and made me feel at home. We became friends and called each other "Nutty Buddy" On subsequent visits to Colorado LaRue and I spent time together, driving to Leadville to explore and other good times. Over the years we have lost contact but I will always remember how kind and welcoming she was to me. I know her family will miss her terribly and I hope my words will be of comfort to them.

I really enjoyed working with La Rue. She had such a kind heart and so giving to everyone. She always made us laugh when times were tough. What a great sense of humor! I will never forget when we took her out for her 70th birthday party at Garibaldis. The restaurant gave her a sombrero to wear and the staff and our group sang Happy Birthday. She had such an amazing smile! We all laughed and enjoyed the moment.
La Rue will be missed by all of us. So happy I had the honor of knowing her.
