Obituary of Maurine Delores Eslinger
Please share a memory of Maurine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Maurine Hopkins Eslinger fell asleep in the Lord on Sunday, January 29, 2017. Maurine was born on June 9, 1930 to Howard and Katherine DeWitt in Twin Falls, Idaho. Maurine was the fifth of eight children and was raised in a loving, Christ centered home, filled with activity and laughter. Maurine married Jim Hopkins in 1949. Together they raised three daughters and operated Hopkins Buhl Funeral Chapel, in Buhl, Idaho. Maurine and Jim passed their abiding faith in their Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus, along to their children and grandchildren. Jim died in 1990, after 41 years of a very happy marriage. Maurine entered a new phase of her life upon marrying Harry Eslinger. They enjoyed an active retirement involving traveling, golfing and entertaining. They enjoyed time with both of their large extended families and friends, remaining close to her siblings and her many nieces and nephews. They resided in Buhl, and then moved to Twin Falls. One of Maurine's greatest joys was spending time with her daughters and grandchildren. She always had time for the children, demonstrating her sense of humor and love, and was adored by them all. In recent years Maurine was blessed with several great grandchildren, providing many hours of happiness for both her and the children. A lifelong member of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, much of Maurine's life revolved around her faith and the church. She always felt that times of sharing her faith were the most important and joyful conversations she had. For many years she and Harry have been active members of Peace Lutheran Church in Filer, Idaho. Maurine was pre-deceased by her husband, Jim Hopkins, sisters Sylvia Ruhter, Carmen Warren, and Dahlia DeWitt, and brother Frank Kruger. She is survived by her husband Harry Eslinger of Twin Falls, daughters Lynn (Rich) Yankey of Twin Falls, Jan (Larry) Benton of Meridian, Becca (Scott)Thompson of Boise, step-children Barbara (Pat) Elkins of Buhl and John Eslinger of Tacoma, WA. She is also survived by sisters Lodema Feldhusen and Shirley Cerva, brother Sonny (Jean) DeWitt, lifelong friend Joyce Billington Johnston, nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. The family suggest memorials be given to Peace Lutheran Church Open Arms Ministries, (Worship for shut ins), P.O. Box 33, Filer, ID 83328 or may be left with the funeral staff. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM, Thursday, February 2 at the Peace Lutheran Church in Filer, ID, with a viewing for Maurine from 9:30-10:30AM the day of the services. Burial will be in the West End Cemetery. Family and friends are encouraged to share their memories at www.rosenaufuneralhome.com.
