Obituary of Thomas L. Barrett

Please share a memory of Thomas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Thomas Lenard Barrett, Jr. was born Monday, January 22, 1962 to Thomas and Genell Barrett in Perryton, TX. Tom grew up mainly in Tribune, Kansas but also lived in Oklahama, Texas, Washington, Wyoming, Colorado and Idaho working in oil fields, farming and eventually following his dream of becoming a welder. Tom is survived by his wife, Heather Barrett; Mom and Dad, Tom and Genell Barrett; his son and his wife, Dane and Ariel Barrett; his two daughters, Olivia and Samantha Barrett; his sisters Terrie (Ronnie) Young, Tonya (Kelly) Little, Kimberly Murrah, Paula (Kevin) Scheib; his brother Paul Barrett; and his dog Sophie Barrett. On November 30, 1988, Tom was proud to announce the birth of his precious baby boy, Dane Andrew Barrett, who also shares the same birthday as Tom's Dad. Tom was a very proud daddy who spent every moment he could with his son. Tom LOVED the Dallas Cowboys! He actually got to sit and have a beer with Quarterback Troy Aikman in a tiny bar in Hayden, Colorado. Very proud moment. He also enjoyed fishing, hanging out with friends and family, being outdoors throwing a football or kicking around a soccer ball or shooting hoops, painting, watching FOOTBALL, talking (or not-talking) on the phone with his son Dane while watching a Football or Basketball game for hours, razzing his Colorado friends about the Donkeys (Denver Broncos), socializing with his over 3,000 facebook friends, and he enjoyed a really good IPA. Tom met his wife, Heather Pendarvis Barrett, on Memorial Weekend 1994 in Enterprise, Oregon while he and his son Dane were on vacation visiting his sister and brother-in-law, Paula and Kevin Scheib. Tom and Heather married on November 29, 1997 and resided in Craig, Colorado for a short time before moving to Twin Falls, Idaho. Twin Falls was a place that Tom and Heather would visit several times a year. It was also where Tom had proposed to Heather, on hole 6 at the Canyon Springs Golf Course to be exact, in September of 1997. Tom and Heather welcomed Olivia Georgia on November 3, 1999 and Samantha Genelle on October 6, 2004. Tom became disabled in 2004 from a back injury and having had three back surgeries. Tom was officially a stay at home Dad and Husband, which was such a blessing in disquise. He was able to spend more time with his family and helping people. He was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for a just under a year before he just couldn't do it any longer. Tom was diagnosed with cancer in March of 2016 which eventually took his life on Memorial Day, Monday, May 29, 2017.
