Please share a memory of Buster to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Buster Leroy Young 90 passed away from a heart attack on April 17th, 2018 after one last chore of hauling wood into his residence. Bus was born on April 5th, 1928 in St. Anthony, Idaho to Lester and Irene Young and spent his childhood developing his hard work ethic at the family ranch located on the Henry's Fork of the Snake River. Bus was a boxer in school as well as a fine horseman as he jockeyed chariot races for his father's quarter horses. He graduated from St. Anthony in 1946 and after a few years of riding broncs and working hard Bus joined the United States Army. Shortly after basic training, Bus married the love of his life Patty Lou Van Sickle on April 3rd, 1951. They continued to reside in St. Anthony where they had their eight children. Bus and Pat then relocated to the Wood River Valley where Bus assisted in the construction of the Warm Springs chairlift on Bald Mountain in Sun Valley. The couple then moved to Kimberly where Bus worked in road construction and as a truck driver taking him across the country. After raising his family, Bus continued his career as a heavy equipment operator in Alaska spending 8 seasons building runways in remote destinations. Bus was a giver and contributor to his community and spent many years volunteering with the East End Providers and calling bingo numbers at the VFW. He and Pat were named Good Neighbors of the year in Kimberly in 2001 and enjoyed the highlight of being Grand Marshals of the parade that year.
Bus literally paved the road for his surviving family which includes his life love and wife of 67 years Patty Lou, his eight children Linda (Brent) Morrill of Hansen, Richard (Judy) Young of Kimberly, Dan (Jackie) Young of St. Anthony, Lee/Tug Young of Idaho Falls, Hattie (Kevin) Homan of Boise, Elizabeth (Vernon) Exner of Meridian, Scott (Nancy) Young of Nampa and Jodie (Greg) Exner of Shoshone and his brother Faye of Utah. He also leaves 18 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren with two more on the way.
Bus is preceded in death by his parents, brother Bob, daughter in law Debbie, granddaughter Callie, and several in laws.
