Rodney was loved by all. He loved his wife, Carol, very much and his children, Maggie, Wesley, Caleb, and Tamzy. He was a great Dad to his children. A wonderful son to me and was always there for me and his brother Kevin Hopwood, Aleana, Mitma, and Terry Zygaj. We all loved one another. He was always on call if we needed anything at anytime. Our family loved him very much. His Aunts, Uncles, and cousins are going to miss him also. He was an awesome caretaker for all of our families. He was well thought of by all that knew him. He is with his Daddy now and may they have a joyful reunion. Rodney, give your Dad a hug for me, love mama! Someday we will all be together as a family again. - Dorien Hopwood

I have many memories of working with Rodney from a time when horse trailers were not in common use. We rode lots of miles in rain, snow , hail, lightning, bitter cold, and sunshine. Rodney loved wild flowers. One summer he tried raising a small garden at the cow camp in Shoshone basin. The warm days were just too short. By the end of the season his carrots were tiny . One day we found a lot of ripe currants near the south end of our range, South cottonwood area. We broke off whole branches and tied them on the back of our saddles. We trotted about eight miles back to camp . Rodney took them home and Carol made a pie out of them. I have lots of memories of working with Rodney dealing with crazy, wild, and mean cows in all kinds of circumstances. I enjoyed working with him. I look forward to a future day when I hope to see him again on the other side, and our relationship will never end. David Crockett

My wife and I are so sad for the loss of Rodney, my brother! We are especially sad for his wife Carol, and his children, Maggie, Wes, Caleb, and Tamzy! We are also sad for my mother, Dorien, and my sisters Aleana & Terry. We are sad for the family and friends that knew and loved Rodney. Rodney is another fine man who died too young. I appreciated his wry humor and dedication to God and his family while pastoring Kimberly Christian Church 1997-2012. He was a congregational leader and a good elder. He always had time to help a neighbor and I don't remember ever hearing him complain about anything. We have lost a good man and heaving has gained a seasoned saint. I can just imagine that big smile on his face when he heard the words, "Well done good and faithful servant, enter into my rest." Until we meet again my friend.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Carol and the rest of the family during this bittersweet time.
