Obituary of LeRoy Edward Dimond

LeRoy (Rick) Dimond, born on December 12, 1941, passed into eternal rest at home June 21, 2020. Rick was born in Tooele, Utah to Fred Dimond and Carole McKee. His youth was spent in Wood and Winner, South Dakota. He enlisted in the US Army and served his country from March 8, 1961 to March 7, 1967 After his honorable discharge Rick worked for the South Dakota State Highway Department for nearly 20 years. He married Tamra Mawhinney on August 14, 1965. They raised two children, Aundrea and Travis, in Winner and Mission, South Dakota. When their children were young Rick and Tammy attended a series of gospel meetings held by Ruth Henderson and Bonnie Dirks. The family car was broken down at the time, so they walked across town with Travis in a stroller to attend the. Both Rick and Tammy made their choice to serve God in 1971. Rick was faithful in that choice until the end of his life. After selling the family business in Mission, South Dakota, Rick and Tammy moved to Idaho in 1991 where they lived and worked, enjoying the fellowship of family and friends. They were privileged to have a Sunday morning meeting in their home on Locust street. Rick retired at age 62 and shortly after the couple followed Tammy’s work to Arizona where they bought a home in 2010. Again, in Yuma, Arizona, they had the privilege of a Sunday morning meeting in their home. In 2016 Rick and Tammy relocated back to Twin Falls where Rick peacefully passed away. Rick built two of the family’s homes himself, had a deep love for nature and being outdoors, birdwatching, and upland game hunting. Rick possessed a unique ability to connect and interact with people across social demographics. Many, many people called him friend and he will be missed by those who knew him. Rick is survived by his wife, Tammy and two children Aundrea (Brent) Richtsmeier and Travis (Kristin) Dimond; two grandchildren, Ethan and Analise Richtsmeier; a sister, Linda Dimond; three half-siblings Glenda, Theresa, and Helen. Rick was preceded in death by his brother Sid and half-brother Nick.
