Obituary of Hans Vander Meer

Hans Vander Meer, 82, of Twin Falls, Idaho passed away peacefully at his home on May 23, 2013. Hans was born Jan 4, 1931 in Oppenhuizen, Friesland, Netherlands to Durk and Tetje (Byl) Vander Meer. After High School Hans became a carpenter. He immigrated to the United States on March 23, 1949 with his brother John. He was sponsored by his brother Dick to work at his dairy in Artesia, Ca. In 1953 Hans met Agnes Vander Vegt at the Reformed Church of Artesia. They were married Oct. 28, 1955. They were blessed with six children: George (Tina), Dick (Kathi), Theresa (Joel), Helen (John), Jennifer (Bryan), and Hans (Melanie). Hans “Pake” had 17 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren who loved and adored him. He is survivied by his brothers Dick (California) and Geart (Holland) and sister Durkje (Holland). He is proceeded in death by his parents, his sisters: Geertje and Wietske (both of Holland) Boukje (Canada) brother John (California), and two granddaughters Danielle and Bridgette . In the early 60's, they moved to La Puente, Ca. where they had a dairy and Cash & Carry (Milky Way). In 1973, Hans and Agnes moved to Jerome where he owned a dairy business. Later he sold commodities for Evans Grain of Rupert. He retired at age 80. Hans was a warm, kind and loving person with a great sense of humor, he will be missed by many. The Vander Meer family would like to give a special thanks to Horizon Home Health and Hospice who assisted Hans in his final months. A viewing for Hans will be held on Monday, May 27th from 5-7 pm at Rosenau Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday, May 28th at the Jerome Cemetery.
