Obituary of Darrell Ross
Please share a memory of Darrell to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
To live is Christ. To die is gain.
Darrell W. Ross went home to be with our LORD Jesus Christ November 28th, 2020. He went peacefully in his sleep at his home in Buhl, Idaho, when without warning his heart stopped as the result of a silent heart attack. The day before he had been enjoying games with kids and grandkids, full of vitality and his usual antics.
He was born on January 2nd, 1950 in Wendell, Idaho and lived an extraordinary life. Darrell was a larger than life character and his presence was felt wherever he went. We remember his life full of strong opinions, humor and insistence on doing things the right way. He was passionate about his faith, his family, his country and business.
A member of the Twin Falls Reformed Church when he passed, Darrell always said he began attending church 9 months before he was born. He led and participated in Bible studies, missions, evangelism, fasting and prayer all of his life. His love for Jesus and the Bible are legacies for us to always remember.
He grew up on the family farm in Jerome and then the family moved to Burley to take over his grandfather’s real estate rental business. While there he learned the construction trade.
At the age of 14 Darrell came home from church camp and declared he had found the girl he was going to marry, Marcia Hart. Six years later they were married in Ogden, Utah, had 6 children together and lived their love story for the next 41 years until her passing in 2011.
After graduating from ISU, Darrell went to work on his own business with his father. Later he would move to California and then Hawaii. After traveling the country in an RV for a year, he moved his family to the Dominican Republic. He moved his family back to Burley, Idaho in 1991. Darrell started many businesses, always working hard... Leaving many plans accomplished and many yet to be accomplished.
Darrell married Beth Longwell in 2016 and their love story is a blessing for all of the family. They enjoyed an active and happy life together at their home in Buhl, Idaho.
Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer Wesley Ross & Jennie Dotson Ross, his brother Calvin Ross, his son Daniel, and first wife Marcia. He is survived by siblings, Allan (& Mary) Ross, (Wayne &) Carolyn Bell, Norman (& Sharon) Ross & Gordon (& Jo Ann) Ross; his wife Beth Ross; his children, Warren (& Dixie), Heather (& Josh), Blair (& Spring), Zachary, Caroline (& Mike) Melissa (& Jeff), Timothy (& Lindsey), Sarah and Jennifer; and 22 grandchildren, Setarre’, Tahby, Dara, Wesley, Cheryl, Jed, Caiah, Esther, Katrina, Elijah, Boaz, Michael, Noah, Moses, James, Abi, Mordicai, Jackson, Luke, “George” (due May 2021), Hayden, Hannah and 3 great-grandchildren Serenity, Aeryn and Ryker.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 5th at 12:00pm at the Twin Falls Reformed Church in the main sanctuary. There will also be a viewing immediately before the service beginning at 11:00am.
