Remembering and honoring my Uncle Mike Gavlin today whom was taken from on us this past Christmas evening. So grateful for the opportunity getting to view the webcast of Visitation & Services today. I wish I could’ve been there.
I have so many fond memories of my Uncle, he loved his family especially the kids and lived - along with caring for my Grandpa for a long time. He was always so kind & generous to my daughters, always fun to be around. Of corse being the shorter of the Nash sons ”jokingly he used to always call me shorty”. And was certainly one of the biggest Cubs fans I knew, so glad I was able to score some great Terrace Box seats and catch a game together! (Thanks Sol Trais @ Fort D.) I think that anyone that knew Uncle Mike, realized what a huge hobbyist & collector he was! He had some mazing collections of vintage trains, die-cast cars, soldiers, stamps and World War artifacts. For as long as there have been wars, children have loved to play with toy soldiers…definitely a childhood dream of so many model cars to admire & play with at his house. Nowadays, collectables & collecting is far more than just a bit of childhood fun, more of an investment. He taught me about the value & passion of stamp collecting and it’s rich history.
My heart goes out to my Mom, my Uncles Mark and Pete, my cousins, and to theirs families in comfort.
