Daniel (Dan) Martine Urrutia, age 77 was called home on January 2, 2021 at his home in Twin Falls, Idaho with his family by his side. Dan was born at the Gooding Hospital in Gooding, Id. on March 6, 1943 to Michael (Mathias) and Mildred (Mercedes) Bilbao-Urrutia. He was their 2nd child.
He spent all his school years in Shoshone. He graduated from Shoshone High School in 1961. It was at Shoshone High School that he met the love of his life Maxine Loe Harris in 1960. He also attended Idaho State University for 2 years. Dan and Max were married on February 23, 1963. They enjoyed almost 58 years of marriage together. They had 4 children. Dan worked for the ASCS for 4 years. He then worked for Eddy’s Bread for 2 years. He then went to work with his Dad at Mike’s Cold Storage until 1991 when the store was sold. After the store was sold, he worked at Cenex and Glanbia. He retired, but he missed the interaction with people and went to work at Walmart. Dan loved hunting, fishing, camping and rock hunting. He loved fishing with his Dad. His nickname was Pioneer Dan because of his love of the land. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. He loved sports and was a great supporter of his kids, then his grandkids. You could hear him yelling from the sidelines or in the bleachers.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents Mike and Mildred Urrutia and both sets of Grandparents. He is survived by his loving wife Maxine of nearly 58 years of Twin Falls, Id; his 4 children, Teresa (John) Cenarrusa of Carey, Id, Curtis (Sharon) Urrutia of Middleton, Id, Douglas (Tasha) Urrutia of Meridian, Id and Tami (Casey) Riley of Boise, Id; his brothers, Phillip (Brother Tobiah) of Ascension Priory in Jerome, Id, Rick (Peggy) Urrutia of Pleasant Grove, Ut; his sister Marie (Mike) Hodge of Eagle, Id. He is also survived by his 10 Grandchildren; Sean (Kym Manning) Cenarrusa, Jennifer (Dillon) Simpson, Caleb (Alyssa) Cenarrusa, Brian (Hayley) Urrutia, McKenzie (Taylor) Pattie, Mitchell (Savanna) Urrutia, Tre (Hailey) Urrutia, Tristan (Lance) Medley, Kelsi (Griffin) Heath and Brett Riley. His 13 Great Grandchildren, Westly Simpson, Cameron Cenarrusa, Lili and Evie Urrutia, Blake, Cash and Oakley Pattie, Saylor Urrutia, Gyson and Ridge Medley, Vynn and Enzo Heath and due on January 22nd Laityn Simpson. Dan is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and many cousins.
A celebration on life will be held on June 26, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Shoshone City Park Gazebo.
