Dear Merla and family, I wish I could be there with you at this time of your loss. I guess my body has a different plan for me. I know, as I am sure you also know, that Jerry is with our Savior and His Father in Heaven. I wish I could have seen the wonder in his eyes when he arrived there.
Jerry was the second out of three sons and one daughter in our family. He quickly established himself as the jokester in our family and often used his siblings as unwitting accomplices in his pranks. One night, his brother Norman was going on a date. What an opportunity. He grabbed a blanket and his sister (me) and hid me on the backseat floor of Norman’s car telling me to be quiet. I went on a ride as my parents were frantically trying to find me. Knowing Jerry as they did, it didn’t take long to figure out what had taken place. A quick call to the parents of Norman’s date resulted in a very short date night. Having Jerry in our family always made our lives a bit unpredictable but always left a smile on our faces.
