Obituary of Elaine Wigington

Obituary of Elaine M. Wigington Elaine was with her family in Arizona at the time of her passing on December 20, 2020. Her passing was way to sudden and unexpected, even though her battle with brain cancer was short, it was courageous. The world lost an angel on earth that day, but heaven gained one that left a legacy of being the best mom, grandma, great grandma, cousin, friend, and co-worker the world could have ever had. Her smile and kind spirit are missed daily by all those that knew her and loved her. Elaine was born on January 20, 1940 in Nampa, Id. to Celeste and Howard Tippin. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Bob. After several family state to state moves as a child, the family ended up settling in Twin Falls. Elaine was a graduate of Twin Falls High School, class of 1958. The same year, Bob and Elaine met, she was with a friend at the Orpheum Theatre downtown and they were being courted by two boys from Buhl dragging Main St. in their cars. Elaine married Bob Wigington in November of 1959. Bob and Elaine were married for over 50 years before Bob’s passing in 2012. Elaine began her lifelong career at First Federal Savings and Loan in 1958, one week after graduating from high school. She was 1 of 11 employees starting at that time. She worked there for 49 years, before retiring the first time in 2007. Elaine returned to part time work after that and continued working at First Federal. She celebrated over 60 years of working at her one and only job she ever knew and loved. She met and developed lifelong friendships with both customers and co-workers. She witnessed many changes over all those years from punch cards to computers doing it all. She always smiled and never showed her frustrations, even on the hardest of days. That was what made her so special to all that knew her, her smile and kind caring nature for treating everyone equally. Elaine truly enjoyed her many years of bowling and golf friendships that she and Bob had over all the years. They had many friends at Sunset Bowl, the Twin Falls Muni golf course early on, and in their later years at the Jerome Country Club. Mom still bowled, played cards and golfed regularly as often as she could when Idaho weather allowed. Mom was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and still sang in the choir. Her family, close friends and faith in God were always what gave her strength behind that unforgettable warm friendly smile. She is survived by her 2 sons, Todd(Jeni) of Arizona and Chad(Traci) of Boise. She had 8 grandkids, which she was so proud of. Chaz, Brooks, Amanda, Wyatt and Maddie all of Arizona, and Tyler, Ashlin and Cooper of Boise. Plus 1 great granddaughter, Lolo of Arizona. She was a treasure and inspiration to us all. We plan to celebrate Elaine’s life of smiles and kindness with all her friends and family together in one place. Please come and share stories of how Elaine was a special part of your lives with us. Food and drinks will be provided. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the United Methodist Church of Twin Falls or the Relay for Life/American Cancer Society in her name. A special thanks to all those lifelong friends that have been there for us as a family and each other thru this most difficult of a year. That genuine kindness Elaine shared with us all will continue on as her legacy within all of us.
