Obituary of Linda Louise Hightower
Please share a memory of Linda to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On June 2, 2021, Linda Louise Hightower left her home here on earth for her eternal home in heaven. She resided at Cedar Draw Assisted Living at the time of her passing.
Linda was born July 19, 1949 in Crawfordsville, IN to George and Virginia Hightower. She had one other sibling, Charles Bradbury.
Linda will always be remembered for her abiding love for her Lord, Jesus Christ and her heart for the lost and forgotten in this world. She always thought the best of people, no matter the circumstance and welcomed all into her heart and home, making many precious friendships. Her heart was so big, it broke often for those who were hurting. This went along with her gift from the Lord as a faithful intercessor for so many. Throughout her life, Linda faced many challenges, hardships and loss but always kept her faith in God who she gave her heart to at an early age.
Linda went to Catholic school growing up and from that experience came her early conversion to the Lord. She felt called to be a nun and serve her Lord in that manner so joined a convent. She loved it but as it turns out, she was too much of a 'free spirit' the sisters said and they gently advised her and her family that this might not be the right fit for her! That didn't change her desire for intercession and service and she spent her life, behind the scenes lifting up others in prayer and ministering to those the Lord led to her.
Linda left Crawfordsville, IN and moved to Chicago on her maiden voyage into the world. From there Linda lived in Wisconsin and many towns in Utah and finally found her home in Twin Falls ID. Not long after settling down in Idaho, Linda gave birth to the joy of her life, Zachary Jordan Hightower, her only child. She worked at Skyview / Hazeldell nursing home while Zachary was small as a CNA, and decided to become a nurse. She was more than half way through her course work when a serious medical issue landed her in the hospital for many weeks. At that time she had to give up her dream of being a nurse but never gave up her heart to help others which was the watchword throughout her life. Linda changed careers after recovering and worked at Gem Linen Supply till her retirement. There, she also made many cherished friends.
Linda was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene and loved singing the old hymns. She had a beautiful voice and would break out in song no matter where she was. Family and friends were blessed by her contagious laughter on many occasions. She had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed sharing stories with others. Some of her favorite things were British comedies and dramas on TV, her beloved kitties, reading books and her precious Bible, filled to overflowing with highlighted scriptures that were precious to her, coloring, crosswords and watching movies; especially with her son Zachary. She could tell you any actor in any film which amazed her friends. She loved nothing better than to go out and eat with her dear friends and laugh and talk over a delicious meal. During her time at Cedar Draw Assisted Living, she became the Bingo caller for the game and enjoyed playing Bingo and doing other fun activities with all the other residents.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, George and Virginia Hightower, her brother, Charles (Kay) Bradbury, and cousin Beverly Johnson (Aldridge).
She is survived by her son Zachary Jordan Hightower, sister-in-law Kay (Charles) Bradbury, nieces, Phyllis Albrecht and her children, Tina Anderson and Dallas Albrecht and Kathy Bradbury and her daughter Brandee Donovan.
The family sincerely thanks Cathy & Jim Lynch of Cedar Draw Assisted Living including all of Linda’s aids there as well as Hospice Visions for their loving care of our mother, cousin, aunt, sister and friend.
