Obituary of Berdeen Nelson

Berdeen Uldine Nelson Berdeen passed onto her heavenly reward on August 6, 2021 at 3 P.M. surrounded by her loved ones. She saw her only son, David, before she died. He welcomed her into heaven. Berdeen Uldine Nelson was born at home on the family farm in Brainard, Minnesota to Walter and Marvel Spencer, September 1, 1932. She was the youngest of the 4 children who lived to adulthood, Ray Spencer, Verla Mae Reed and Darol Spencer. She had 2 younger siblings that passed away during childhood. They all preceded Berdie in death. Berdie married Bill Nelson on April 19, 1950 in Brainerd, Minnesota. They have 2 children, Danyll McIntyre (Skip), still living, and David, their son who proceeded Berdie in death in 1999. Davids wife, Barb, still living, has continued to be like a daughter to Bill and Berdie over the years. Bill and Berdie opened their lives to a bonus son, Kip Gies. Bill and Berdie have 4 grandchildren, Camryn Freeze (Denise), Donya Freeze, Rachelle Airehart (Brian) and Kristah Nelson. 7 great grandchildren complete the family tree. Spencer, Deveraux, Corey, Ilie, Noah, Maeceli, and Calian. Berdie has a treasure trove of friends from throughout her entire life. She had a gift of making everyone whom she met feel good about themselves. People wanted to be in Berdie’s presence because of how good she made them feel about themselves. Berdie was so grateful for all the care workers who had helped her through her last couple difficult years of failing health.
