Obituary of Byron S. Webb

Byron Webb, 57, of Twin Falls, Idaho passed away August 18, 2021 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center (EIRMC) in Idaho Falls due to complications with COVID-19. He was born May 25, 1964 in Gooding, Idaho to James Elwin (Smoky) and Alice Webb. He was the youngest of three siblings, and was proceeded by his older brothers Austin and Jason Webb. Byron spent his formative years in Shoshone, Idaho where he graduated high school in 1982. During this era, he participated in sports such as track and field, football, and basketball. During his senior year he served as the student body president. After high school: Byron worked as a wildland firefighter for the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), volunteered as an EMT, and was a member of the Lincoln County Search and Rescue team. He later went to California to pursue his dream of becoming a commercial deep-sea diver. Upon his arrival in California, he was fortunate to live with Edward and Jackie Kidd where the family took him in as the son they never had. Byron maintained a close relationship with the Kidd’s, and often referred to them as his bonus family. After completing dive school, and with some prompting from the Kidd’s, Byron decided a career as a deep-sea diver wasn’t a lifestyle requisite for raising a family. This considered, he moved back to Idaho, where he then decided to go on a mission. Byron served a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Tampa Bay, Florida mission. In 1986, he met his wife Ruthie (Staley), to whom he married in the Los Angeles Temple on September 17th, 1988. In the years that followed they had four beautiful children (JD, Josh, Amanda, and Andrew). Byron and his wife settled in Twin Falls, Idaho where they built their life and raised a family. Byron was employed for more than decade as a truck driver, working for companies such as UPS and Consolidated Freightways (C.F.). However, after C.F. filed bankruptcy in the early 2000’s, he was gifted with an opportunity to go back to school. Byron’s late 30’s were occupied with obligations to his family, school, and work. Byron subsequently graduated with an Associates of Nursing from the College of Southern Idaho (CSI). Byron spent the majority of his nursing career with St. Luke’s— working in both the Post-Surgical Unit and Operating Room. Later in his career he transitioned to Sawtooth Surgery Center where he worked until his death. Byron’s interests included hunting, fishing, kayaking, camping, and riding his motorcycle. He had a profound love of the outdoors, and the memories created there with his family. He also prided himself as a self-taught handyman which was constructive around the house and in the service of others. Byron worked hard all of his life, sometimes working three jobs at a time to make ends-meet. He was a great provider for his family, of which allowed his wife to stay home with the kids while they were growing up. Byron will always be remembered for his selflessness. He never hesitated to help others in need— regardless of time or personal cost. Furthermore, he strived daily to be a more kind, humble, and honest person. He was a good man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Byron is survived by his wife Ruthie, sons: J.D. (Alexa) of Boise, Idaho, Josh and Andrew Webb of Pocatello, Idaho, daughter Amanda Rich (Theo) of Hailey, Idaho, two grandsons through Josh, Keaton and Ledger Webb; parents James Elwin (Smoky) and Alice Webb; brothers Austin (Deborah) of Kennewick, Washington; Jason (Annette) Webb of North East, Maryland, as well as many nieces and nephews.
