Obituary of Orval Lincoln Bradley

Dr. Orval (Brad) Lincoln Bradley, age 88 passed away at his home in Twin Falls, Idaho, December 6, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents Jack Marion and Fleta Casey (Box) Bradley, his brother and sister Jackie Lee Bradley and Fleta Faye Cox, and a grand daughter Angela Dieon Bradley. He is survived by his wife, Rita Joyce (Todhunter) Bradley; two sons Alan Dale Bradley (Debi) of Gilbert, Arizona and Scott Evan Bradley (Joell) of Gig Harbor, Washington and one daughter, Vicky Lynn Fehringer (Richard) of Twin Falls, Idaho, six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He was born in Carthage Missouri March 10, 1933 attending grade schools in Oswego Kansas and Joplin Missouri and graduating high school in Joplin in 1951. While working a summer job as a Life Guard at a girls church summer camp he met, flirted with and later married his wife Rita shortly after she graduated from Joplin High School in October of 1952. He was drafted into the US Army in March of 1953 during the Korean War. He reported for basic training in Fort Smith Arkansas and Field Artillery training. He was stationed at Camp Chafffee Arkansas as a training Drill Instructor with the rank of Corporal, later assigned as the supply NCO of the Camp. After an honorable discharge from the Army in 1955 he then began working at Ozark Engineering in the drafting room. Later while working at Eagle Pitcher Co., making batteries for the Space Program he utilized the GI Bill to obtain A Master’s Degree in Technical Education at the College of Pittsburg Kansas. After graduating, he was a professor at Connors State College in Warner Oklahoma. In August of 1967 he was hired as the Dean of Vocational Technical Education at the College of Souther Idaho in Twin Falls, Idaho. At that time the College consisted of night classes at the Twin Falls High School and Vocational Classes in a former tractor dealership on Kimberley Road. In 1982 he achieved his Doctorate In Education Administration from University of Idaho. He was instrumental in making the CSI campus what it is today by working with General Motors implanting the ASEP program. He was the President of the National and International Association of Schools providing the Automotive Service Excellence Certification. He was involved in recruiting manufacturing companies like Kellwood Corp. to build plants and provide jobs in the Magic Valley. Brad developed job training programs for those companies setting up shop in the area. He had a special talent for bringing out the best in his programs, staff and students by encouraging and supporting them in furthering their education and striving to be the best they could be. He continually sought out additional funding and space for laboratories and classrooms. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Twin Falls, serving on the board of Deacons for many years as well as youth leader. He was a member of the Twin Falls Lions Club and a member of the local Good Sams Club participating in many road trips and rallies. Brad and his wife loved to travel in their motor home after his retirement- traveling to Alaska, Nova Scotia, and Arizona just to name a few. He enjoyed carving, golfing, traveling and most importantly spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family would like to especially thank the staff at Hospice Visions Inc. in Twin Falls for the exceptional care they provided for Brad and the support given to the family during his last few weeks. A celebration of Life for Dr. Orval Bradley will be held at the First Baptist Church of Twin Falls {910 Shoshone Street N.} on December 14th at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers donations made be made to First Baptist Church of Twin Falls or the College of Southern Idaho - Vocational Technical Education.
