Obituary of Nick Sidlaruk

Nick Sidlaruk went home to be with his Lord on January 22, 2022. He was 97 years old and he died peacefully at his home in Twin Falls, Idaho. Nick was born in Ilosk, Poland (now Belarus) on January 3, 1925 and, after World War II, immigrated to the United States with his parents, Alexander and Anastasia Sidlaruk, and his two sisters, Zoia and Lydia. During his time in America, he lived in Wisconsin, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Arizona and Idaho. In his profession as a Men’s Clothing Designer, Nick contributed significantly to the industry and to his adopted country. During the 1960’s when the U.S. space program was in full force, Nick had the opportunity to assist NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) in the creation of recovery suits for the astronauts. He worked with astronaut John Glenn on the suit’s design and later received great commendation from the government for his accomplishments. He was also involved in creating the prototype of the Kevlar vests currently used by the military and law enforcements agents. He was well known and well respected in his industry until his retirement. Nick married Anna Fefelov on October 11, 1952 and together they had two children. Nick was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather. He loved his Lord and served as a deacon in two of the churches he attended. He also sang in the choir. Nick is survived by his son Timothy (Carmen) Sidlaruk, his daughter Carol (Vern) Wingert; his grandchildren Ashley Wingert, Nicholas (Rebecca) Sidlaruk, and Joshua (Laiken) Sidlaruk; his great-grandchildren Kelson, Kara and Ana Sidlaruk; his sister Zoia Rapinchuk; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Anna (nee Fefelov), his parents Alexander and Anastasia Sidlaruk, and his sister Lydia Schneider. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Rosenau Funeral Home, 2826 Addison Ave E., Twin Falls.
