Lena Cheney Smith, 100, a resident of Twin Falls passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2022 of natural causes at Brookdale Senior Living. She was born in South Portland, Maine on November 7, 1921 to William T. Studley and Marion J. Files Studley. She moved to Cape Elizabeth, Maine at an early age. She graduated in 1938 from Cape Elizabeth High School. She married Hollis E. (Bud) Cheney in Cape Elizabeth, Maine on January 16, 1941. They moved to Idaho in 1949 with their two daughters and settled in Idaho Falls where their son was born. They moved to Twin Falls in 1962 where she had resided for 60 years. She worked for the Mountain Bell Telephone as an operator in Idaho Falls and after moving to Twin Falls she worked for Sears for a short while and then Jensen Jeweler’s for 18 years retiring in 1983. She was a member of the Lady Elks and a past president, past president of Credit Women and a member of American Legion Auxiliary. She and Bud were divorced in 1976. She married Ralph L. Smith in 1985. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, two brothers, her ex-husband, Bud Cheney and her husband Ralph Smith and one grandson. She is survived by her daughters Sandra (Ronald) Laine of Anthem, AZ and Gail (Tom Jr.) Lowman of Twin Falls as well as her son Elwood (Wood) (Nancy) Cheney of Meridian, Idaho. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, Shelley, Cathy, Terry, Trent, Tammy, Monica and Bryan, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson. Also several nieces and nephews and a very special person in her life Virginia (Mike) MacBride of Washington. As per her request there will be no services at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of Rosenau Funeral Home.
