Obituary of Michael Toledo

Please share a memory of Michael to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Michael (Mike) Anthony Toledo, age 64, born January 25th, passed away in his home in Buhl, Idaho on the morning of July 20th, 2022. He was taken from us after a 3-month battle with cancer, which he endured with the strength and grace that was evident in all that Mike did in life. Mike was accompanied by his wife Renee in his final moments. In addition to being survived by wife Renee, Mike was survived by his daughters Tanya Cargill and Candice Mendez, their husbands Raymond and Richard, grandchildren Savannah, Michaela, Dakota, Elijah, Sierra, Noah, Aria, and Landon, brother Gary Toledo and his wife Peg, brother Joe Toledo and his wife Sue and nephew and niece Nick and Annabella Toledo. Mike was also survived by mother in law, Billie Flint, brothers and sisters in law, Grace & Bruce Blake, Tom & Nancy Haskin, Bill Haskin, Darrell & Tammy Haskin, Kim & Debbie Flint, Rick & Dawn Flint, and all of their children, all of whom loved Mike as their son, brother and uncle. Also surviving Mike is his beloved horse, Boomer. Mike grew up in Fair Oaks, California, where he graduated from Del Campo High School in 1976. Mike went on to join and serve in the Coast Guard, where he received training in electronics and mechanics. Mike took that knowledge with him after leaving the Coast Guard to work with computer electronics and as a mechanic in several capacities over the last 40 years. Mike married Renee in 1990 and welcomed two daughters into his arms. Later, as those girls grew and had children of their own, Mike and Renee became Grandparents. The day Mike became a grandpa, everyone saw a softer side of him that they had rarely seen before. Mike loved his grandchildren, enjoyed playing with them, wrestling with them, and watching them grow. Mike and Renee moved to Buhl, Idaho in 2011, where Mike would eventually become an important part of the local community, joining the board of the Mud Creek Water User’s Association, and offering a helping hand where needed. Mike’s passions in life included horseback riding and fast cars. Mike thoroughly enjoyed watching Nascar and going to Sears Point to experience the high of Top Fuel racing. Everyone who knew Mike knew that he had a special love for the 65 Mustang, a love which he passed down to his children. Mike fully rebuilt a 65 mustang which he found at a Pick & Pull, taking it from a rust bucket to a beautiful Metallic Burgundy work of art. Mike and Renee got into horseback riding in the late 90’s, when they purchased their first horse, which eventually led to the purchase and breeding of several more, including Boomer, born from his first horse Chanelle. Boomer is now 24 years old and enjoying life with his new goat buddies on their Buhl property. The Coast Guard motto Semper Paratus translates as “Always Prepared” or “Always Ready.” Mike certainly seems to have embodied this motto as he progressed in his life after his service with the Coast Guard. Mike was always a “why put off until tomorrow what can be done today” type of man, always taking the initiative to get done what must be done. There was rarely a day when you would find Mike lounging around rather than working hard or getting something accomplished around the house. Mike’s constant hard work and dedication often inspired those around him to do the same. Mike’s daughters attribute much of their success in their careers to the lessons learned from growing up with Mike as a primary role model in life. Mike impacted so many lives with his time on this earth, and there is a hole in the hearts of many who say their goodbyes now. Mike lost both of his parents in the last year and a half, and he now joins them in the arms of the Lord. We can all rest easy knowing that he is at peace and watching over us for the remainder of our time here. A memorial service will be held in Mike’s honor on August 6th at 2pm at Rosenau Funeral Home in Twin Falls, Idaho. Following the short ceremony, refreshments will be offered as we gather to celebrate and remember Mike’s life. For family and friends who cannot join the service in person, it will be streamed live on the Rosenau website, and will be available for viewing later for those unable to join at this date and time.
