Obituary of Nicholas H. Maringas

Please share a memory of Nicholas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Nicholas Harry Maringas, age 83, of Twin Falls, Idaho, passed away on September 16, 2022 of complications related to Parkinson’s disease. Nick was born in Franklin, Massachusetts on January 26, 1939. He was the son of Greek immigrants, the late Harry G. Maringas and Paraskevey Patros. He grew up on his parents’ chicken farm where he was the youngest of five children. As the baby of the family, he was spoiled by all and said he was usually successful at dodging chores. After graduating from Franklin High School with honors, he attended New Mexico State University where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, also with honors. While attending college, he also developed film for the White Sands Missile Range. It was during these years that he started a family. He married his beloved wife LaJuan “Lana” Wells and they had two children. After college he began a career primarily in the power industry. He loved a challenge and new opportunities resulted in many job adventures. He lived life on his own terms and never wasted a single moment of it. He energetically played basketball, bowling, and golf. He played softball for more than 26 years and loved the sport. When he could no longer play, he became the umpire. He was the loudest person in every room and steadfastly stubborn. He loved taking his family camping, fishing and on surprise road trips. He had a knack for being cheerful, and he chatted with everyone he met. His hobbies included rebuilding classic cars and building computers from scratch - because he could – and he maintained a passion for hot rods which never wavered. He carried a camera with him everywhere, reveling in the ability to capture everything he loved. His high spirits were contagious as were his smiles. He saw everything as an opportunity, never a difficulty. He took up Rock Steady Boxing for Parkinson’s in later years and encouraged others to do the same. He was welcomed into God’s arms surrounded by those he loved. He lived life just as he was loved - fiercely and greatly. He is survived by his wife Lana and two children, Michael (& Sarah) Maringas of Port St. Lucie, FL, and Nikki (& Jim) Kern of Twin Falls, ID. He is also survived by six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Arthur (& Angela) Maringas of Bad Axe, MI; sister Helen (& Socrates) Louvitakis of East Longmeadow, MA; brother George Maringas of Franklin, MA, and sister Dorothea (& John) Blizzard of Boston, MA. The family will have a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to any Parkinson’s charity. A special thank you goes to Chardonnay Assisted Living and Auburn Hospice Services for their exceptional care and devotion.
