Obituary of Larry D. Rountree

Please share a memory of Larry to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Larry Dee Rountree. 6/19/1945 to 10/8/2022 Born to Harley Richard Rountree & Lenora Rountree (Helms) on June 19, 1945 in Twin Falls, Idaho. Lived in Twin Falls, Kimberly, and Hansen, Idaho all of his life. Larry started cutting meat for Rountree’s Food Liner in the 1960’s and then worked for Marty’s Market. After graduation from Twin Falls High School in 1963, he joined the Army Reserves. After his Army boot camp, he came back and went to work for Joe Shelby, owner of Shelby’s Market. In 1963 he met his wife Sandra P. DeFord. They were married December 29, 1965. Their son Richard R. Rountree was born on October 21, 1970 on his wife’s birthday. In 1975 he had an accident and broke his ankle. At this point he could no longer cut meat and went to work for Bill Workman Ford. This was bought out by Roy Raymond. Then was bough out by Greg Middlekauf. Larry held many positions while working at Ford from fleet manager, to new car manager, and sale and finance. He retired from Ford in 2005. He worked for Smalley Motors in Jerome, Idaho, then he fully retired. Over the years he owned many travel trailers, off road motorcycles and ATVs. He enjoyed the family times spent at Silver Creek below Galena Summit. The family took a trip to Wyoming when Rick was five with the trailer and went through Yellowstone. While Larry’s sister lived in California the family took several trips to see her and family and stayed in Las Vegas on the way down. Rick enjoyed the times spent at Disney Land. In the fall of 1996 Larry brought his first Harley Davidson motorcycle. He took many road trips to Wyoming, Montana, Northern Idaho, and to Sturgis, South Dakota. Enjoyed family dinner with our son Rick and his dog Zoi. Such a gentle giant of a dog, and gentle spirit. It has been a journey to watch our son Rick Rountree grow up and fulfill his dreams. Buying his first home and having his independence. He has done a great job. Job well done Rick! Larry is survived by his wife Sandra P. Rountree, son Richard E Rountree, Rick’s life partner (our second son) Michael Mancilla, grand-dog Zoi, his special four-legged girl Rosie, sister Harla Rae Gammonley of Boise, Idaho, and brother Bud R. Rountree of Eagle, Idaho. Life is like foot steps in the sand. They tend to fade away in time but not forgotten. Today and Tomorrow. Today is here now, tomorrow hasn’t come yet. Here today and gone tomorrow. I love you today and tomorrow and always unconditional love. You were a great friend and husband, a great father to our son Rick. No need to suffer any longer for you are in God’s hands now and he will take care of you. So, until we all meet again, I love you now and forever. Love you to the moon and back. Love Sandy, Rick, Michael, Rosie, and Zoi. At Larry’s request there will be no services. Please make a donation to your favorite charity or make a donation to Twin Falls Animal Shelter or rescue a dog or cat and give them a second chance at life.
