Obituary of Shane Joseph Hobbs

Shane Joseph Hobbs went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Messiah on September 5th - six days shy of his 35th birthday – due to a pulmonary embolism and the resulting brain damage. He was born in West Covina, CA, the apple of his parent’s eyes. His family remembers his passion for Legos and sharks, and how he would spend hour upon hour drawing elaborate pictures. Some of his favorite activities included visiting Traveltown with his grandmother and aunt, riding the AmTrak train to San Diego and going to Dodger baseball games with his dad. While in kindergarten, he was diagnosed with Tourette’s Syndrome – a neurological disorder. At the City of Hope in Duarte, CA, Shane was involved in a research project, which resulted in the book, “Tourette Syndrome and Human Behavior,” written by the renown Dr. David E. Comings. In the fall of 1993, his family moved to Idaho, where Shane attended Twin Falls High School, graduating in 1995. Although he spent most of his school years in Special Ed classes, he was very proud of the fact that he graduated with a ‘normal’ diploma. Shane was often seen “cruising” around Twin Falls, taking in the latest action flicks, or working the lobby at McDonald’s on Pole Line Rd. Co-workers and customers alike always remarked on his sunny disposition. And his family agrees that nothing seemed to get Shane down – he always had a smile on his face. Shane had a knack for repairing his computer, and enjoyed playing video games and watching ‘Golden Girls’ on DVD. He was taken from us way too soon, and his passing has left a terrible void in our lives. In Idaho, he is survived by his parents, Victor Hobbs and Sherri Wallace; his sisters, Cassandra (Bradon Tilley) and Jessica; his nephews, Drayden and Marcus (Jude); his stepfather, Thomas, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins residing in many other states. A memorial service will be held at The River Christian Fellowship, 4002 N 3300 E, on Sunday, September 9th, at 2pm.
