Obituary of Kenneth L. Clements

Kenneth Leon Clements, 81, went home to be with Jesus on August 1, 2012. He was born in Orange, CA in the middle of an orange orchard on June 26, 1931. His parents moved between CA and Idaho several times during his youth. He graduated from Eden High School in 1950 and enlisted in the Air Force with his buddies Lloyd Thorton and Parley McBride. Ken met Alice Murphy in Hazelton, ID and fell in love on their 2nd date. They were married on July 2, 1951; they lived in Cheyenne, WY where Ken attended Communications School at Francis E. Warren Air Base. They returned to Elgin Air Base in Florida after graduating. From there Ken was transferred to Okinawa during the Korean War. He was there for 18 months, their first child Janice was born while Ken was overseas. Ken returned to Edwards Air force Base at Lancaster, CA where their second child Randy was born. After his enlistment from the Air Force was over Ken and Alice settled in Whittier, CA, where Ken went to work for General Telephone & Electronics. In 1960 their third child Gary was born in Whittier, CA. After 34 years with GTE Ken retired in 1988. In 1993 Ken & Alice moved back to Idaho realizing a lifelong goal to retire here. Ken enjoyed fishing, playing cards with the Sellers, Ulrich’s or the Sorenson’s, with pinochle and poker being the games of choice. Ken’s favorite fishing holes were Magic and Salmon Falls. He always had a great interest in horse racing, with both his aunt and sister having owned race horses. Ken was a family man. His family and friends were everything to him. He was a fighter and put up a great battle to his last day. His doctor told him he’s dodged more bullets than John Wayne. The family would like to thank Dr. Ippolito and staff and Dr Symington and the nurses at MISTI. Ken was preceded in death by his parents Mark and Lois, daughter, Janice, sister, Rosie and granddaughter Krissy. Ken is survived by his wife, Alice, sons Randy and Gary, daughter in laws Susan and Laura, grandchildren, Ken, Michelle, Rose, Hannah and Mathew; great grandchildren Josie, Mandalyn, Kalea and Naomi; his family the Sellers, Ulrich’s, Murphy’s and Sorenson's, and his many nieces and nephews all of which he adored and his many friends. A viewing will be held from 6-8 pm, Sunday, August 5, 2012 at Rosenau Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11am, Monday, August 6, 2012 at the funeral home with military rites after the services. Burial will be at 2pm at Twin Falls Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be given to the American Diabetes Assoc., American Cancer Society or to the ALS Foundation.
