Cyril Louis Touchette was my Uncle...He married Mary Rose Roberts Touchette, my paternal side auntie....Sister of my Father Gordon King Roberts...Uncle Bugd was a very favorite uncle of mine, altho I di not see so very much of him, or often...Alas....the last time was our family reunion held in Ren, Nevada to celebrate my Uncle Marvin Robertrs' 70th birthday, hosted by Joseph M. Roberts., the youngest male child of the Roberts Clan...There were seven children born to Flossie R. Emory Roberts and her husband William Chapman Roberts.....My Father, Gordon King Roberts was the eldest...I am uncertain as to dates, but my Father and Uncle Bud were best friends..In fact as the story goes, my Father brought Uncle Bud as single man home to Ills. and introduced him my Dad's sisters...He like MARY best I a think and they courted and then married....Date unknown...
Speaking of Uncle Buds' piloting skills, back when my Father, "Gordon" died in 1962, Uncle Bud & I think my other Roberts Uncle, also a pilot, flew my Grandmother Flossie from Twin Falls Idaho in a private plane that was quite small in route to the funeral held in S.F. Bay area....Flossie adored UNCLE BUD, who didn't ??? and she trusted him implicitly.
Uncle Bud was for me, a very kind and GENTLE man as:.....Faithful, stalwart well liked and LOVED by MANY, he was also a Gentle GIANT....Very determined, strong in mind and mind set, & so many other things that this young niece & others just LOVED-ADMIRED...He was also VERY Handsome, or so this niece thought......He and my Father "Gordon", loved to FLY, & I think-believe they met in Pensacola, Florida during flight training to graduate from flying as enlisted to be promoted to fly as officers...USN.
He was a marvelous match for my sometimes "fiesty" Aunt Mary......His wife....She was strong in will and or but Uncle Bud managed to keep things calm and he quietly ruled....Least wise I am sure of this.....
Uncle Bud and my Dad, also LOVED to FISH...Plenty of camp outs revolving around this....
I hold all my memories of my Uncle Bud in my heart for safe keeping...I am the eldest GRANDCHILD of all the ROBERTS clan. I therefore have these memories as few other cousins do because I was the eldest.....
A special word just popped into my mind to say the best & most regarding my Uncle Bud....That word is: NOBLE!
Yes, he was noble, and unforgettable! May GOD grant you kind Sir a remarkable welcome to HIS arms and may you
know of the LOVE held still in many hearts for having known you! Your loving NIECE, Linda Jean Roberts Longenecker
