Chuck was a great guy and a favorite uncle. I remember him assisting me in showing my 4H calf at the fair, I really appreciated it because I had never shown livestock before. I will always remember the thinnest man with the largest appetite I had ever seen. My sympathy to all of you, I know you will miss him very much. Kelly

What a true and faithfulf friend Chuck always has been for all these years!! The good times we shared in our Navy lives will never be forgotten--and those Navy blues looked so good on our guys, didn't they? What exciting times we had yet they just wanted to get home and farm. Chuck always saw the best in people and always seemed so easy to get along with- he didn't say too much, just shrugged his shoulders and went along with it. His patience with our long winded phone calls and gab sessions always amazed me. He alway showed consideration for others and set such a great example. Perhaps my fondest memories will always be the special ways he has always been there for me since I've been without Gordon. Never once did I feel like a third wheel around you two. He always met me at the door with a big hug and when I left I got another big hug and a reminder to drive carefully!! Besides that I think he liked to fix us a special cappuccino. I know God has a special place for him and he will be at peace there. He certainly was a wonderful man and made my world a much better place.

Papa Chuck was the Grandfather that every Grandson hopes for. He was the same man day in and day out and you could always count on him no matter what. He was a man of his word. He did not tell me how to be a man he showed me how to be a man. I always liked hearing stories from Papa Chuck and now that he is gone they mean that much more to me. I remember him telling me about crashing on his bike with his .22 when he was a kid and that it never shot the same. I remember him telling me stories about the Navy and what he did. I remember him telling me the story of when he sold a pick-up and the guy tried to cheat him and not pay him the right amount. I remember a lot of stories Papa Chuck told me and I will never forget them. I also have many fond memories of Papa. I can remember when we took some cattle to get branded and their horns cut off. I can remember hoeing beats with him at a fairly young age. I remember him helping me build Bo's casket and digging his grave. I can remember going duck hunting with Papa at a young age and shooting magpies in the front yard. I remember working with him for two summers during high school. I remember going to Jakes baseball games with him. All memories that I will never forget. Even though Papa is gone I sometimes feel like he is still here. I can still hear his voice and his words of advise. I know that he is watching down on us protecting us and guiding us. The day that Papa died the world lost a great man and heaven gained a great man. Love you Papa. Justin Smith

Papa was the inspiration that I had to even think about joining the military, and thoughts of him will always help me through the days while I am still in. He lead an amazing life and was in a generation where the whole way of life was changed over and over again. Through a world war, civil rights movement, women's rights movement, even down to televisions and computers. His generation is a dying breed of true old-schoolers, when everyone had to walk to school up-hill both ways in 4 feet of snow, no one was sued over spilled coffee, and everyone made money off of honest work. The best times I had with him was when I would visit for lunch and he would tell me stories about anything and everything. From getting kicked out of bars with his Navy shipmates in Hawaii, to how the mailman would always take an afternoon nap down the road because he drank too much. I never had a bad memory with him, and I wish I could have made even more memories with him. While I may be gone from home, I will always remember where my heart lies. I'm glad he got to live a long healthy life, and that when it was time he went fast and peaceful. I already miss you Papa, but I know every day you are helping God watch over everyone you had in your life. I love you and we'll take care of Gram for you. -Jake

I have know Chuck Ewing my entire life. He and my dad served in the U.S. Navy together. As a city girl from Pocatello going to Buhl was my taste of country living for me. I learned many lessons at Chuck and Max's house......How to ride a horse (Champ), how to swim in the coolie, feed baby cows, cutter races, filer fair, riding motercycles, irrigating and I also flew on a plane from Pocatello to Twin so I could say that I had flown. I loved going there and have so many fond memories of Steven, Dennis and Peggy. My dad (Paul Williams) and Chuck were like brothers. They had a bond that was unexplainable. They were joined at the heart. Their example of friendship spilled over to their children, and grandchildren. We might not of been family by blood but we were family by love. Good bless you all!!! I hope when Uncle Chuck hit heaven he gave my dad the biggest hug ever. I love you guys and my prayers are with you all!!! Natalie Williams Barfuss
