Please accept our deepest sympathy on the loss of your beloved husband, father, and son, Matthew. My sister and I cannot express our gratude enough for the care he gave our mother. At first she had some reservations as he was just a little different (the little ear ring) than her previous doctor, but as time progressed she only had the kindest words for him. He was compassionate, but also enjoyed teasing her which she loved. Thank you Dr. Jolley for being the best. J. B. Tortel C. L. Butler

The world has lost a wonderful man. May you rest in peace Matt... I love ya:) Jann Folk

I owe Matt and the Jolley family alot. They put up with my foolishness and Matt literally forced me many times to practice Tae Kwon Do. Without him I would have quit and missed one of my proudest accomplishments. He was also a significant part of my high school gaming table and all the great memories I have of those sessions. I hope our friendship gave him a fraction of what it gave me. I will remember his will power, his intelligence, and when I want to quit anything I will either hear his voice chastising me or feel his foot/hand knocking some sense into me. I have been blessed with so many wonderful friends and I have lost a great one in Matt Jolley.

Dr. Jolley was a very outstanding man whom my family respected. He was always ready to listen and to help understand what the problem was and very knowledgeable in his field of expertise. My son was always happy to see him when we went to the office. With my son's special needs he always had the patients to talk with him. You will be missed greatly in the community Dr. Jolley. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. Cathy, Heather and Matt Holston

I will always remember Dr. Jolley's visits to the bedside of a hospice patient. He was always so caring. compassionate and an "active" listener to patients approaching end of life. It was an honor and a privilege to serve with Dr. Jolley during his tenure as our medical advisor for St. Luke's Home Care and Hospice (Magic Valley Home Care and Hospice) during the time I served with him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and received his care. God bless and keep you in His care, Dr. Jolley! Rev. Bruce A. Stevens, Hospice Spiritual Care Chaplain St. Luke's Home Care and Hospice

I didn't know Dr. Jolley very long, but I have been through a number of doctors over the past two years and I'll never forget what Dr. Jolley said to me the first time we met. I was trying to explain my frustration to him over the other doctors' inability to understand my pain and he finished my sentence for me, "Empathy" he said. I can think of no better word to describe the man.

Even though we were cousins, geographic separation limited the time spent together. But even as kids it was always a fun and intellectually creative time whenever the opportunity was there to get together. As a youth, he was impressive in his maturity dealing with a difficult medical condition, and as a man he was truly impressive in his courage and determination to carry on under difficult circumstances. But it is not his illness which did or does define him, but rather his impressive zest for life, kindness to family, friends and patients, and his success in achieving excellence in all his varied endeavors. I'm proud to be his cousin.

As a parent I cannot imagine any pain greater than loosing a child. Matthew has touched so many hearts in his short time on earth, and I'm sure his legacy will remain with every one of them. His fight and resolve his whole life is certainly a reflection on your parenting. You and Fred must be very proud. You both are in my thoughts every day, and I am hoping for a quick fix and recovery for Fred's issue with the stones. My best to both of you, and Mark.

Dr. Jolley took care of my sister for several years before she passed away in 2001 of cystic Fibrosis. Dr. Jolley was always very polite and understanding when she was in the hospital in Twin even informed us that he was not sure he knew how to take care of her and was in contact with the university of Utah several time a day to make sure she was taken care of properly. He always had a smile on his face. It was a welcome thought that we knew when she was put in the hospital we knew she was taken care of by the best Dr. she knew. He would even call the house to see how she was doing if she had not been in the office for awhile wanting to know if there was anything she needed, she was there for her always and he made sure she knew to. After clinics that would come to Idaho he would call to see how it went. Dr. Jolley will be dearly missed. The community truly lost a valuable Dr. in the area. He will never be forgotten.

I met Dr. Jolley about a year and a half ago when I was at the end of my rope with Cymbalta withdrawal and having been dropped by my previous doctor who no longer wanted to deal with patients in chronic pain (particularly fibromyalgia patients such as me). The Cymbalta withdrawal turned me into a person that I wasn't (thoughts of hurting others, particularly doctors so they could suffer like me). I knew I would never act on these thoughts, but they were torturing me none the less. I had been through countless doctors who insulted me or thought my pain was all in my head. I was about ready to end it all to finally get some relief. After insulting Dr. Jolley needlessly at the first appointment and then crying because I was so embarrassed that I did so, I looked at him with tears in my eyes and said, "No one will help me get relief. No one cares how much I'm suffering." He looked me in the eye and said, "I can help you, I care". And he did. I had no idea that he was struggling with his own health. He always treated me with the utmost care and respect. They don't make doctors like this anymore. I was one lucky person to have had the pleasure of working with him as a patient for the last year and a half. May he rest in peace! Love to all of the friends and family who will miss him! Bobbie, a very greatful patient.

I only recently learned of Matt's death. As his 3rd and 4th grade teacher I was greatly inspired by his spirit and determination to not only be "normal", but to achieve the ambitious goals he set for himself. It would have been easy, given his health challenges, to glide along letting his disease control his life, but Matt was driven by an inner light far brighter and stronger than yours or mine. He was clearly, even at age 9 or 10, a wise and spiritual being whose desire to help others was clear and vibrant. I am not surprised by the comments I have read here about "Dr. Jolly." While it has been over 30 years since I've seen him, he remains one of the most lovable and impressive human beings I have ever met. Special love and thoughts go out to Pat, Fred and Andy who spent so much time with their beloved Matt. I remember Pat coming to school to "pound' on Matts back to help him breathe. What a tireless, upbeat, A~team the Jolley family was. I can't imagine your loss even now a year and a half later. So much love to you all and to all those struggling with the loss of such a phenomenal man. Ellen Fisher Gager

I didn't have the pleasure of knowing Matt when he was an adult, but I did know him when he was a child. I worked for the pediatrician that he and Andy went to. Matt, even at a young age was a very impressive little boy. He never complained about any treatments he had to have and was always so good. Matt lived a life always giving to others and to be such a positive example of how to keep pushing forward. What an assett he was to his family, friends and community.

As Matt's mother-in-law, I can say my daughter , Jamie was the lucky s woman in the world. Matt and Jamie loved each other so much and I'm happy they had that love even though the time was short. Matt was the best Dad to her kids and the best son-in-law ever. I miss you so much and the kids and I will continue to visit your grave site. Tidus loves to lay in the grass and pretend he's still in your arms. He tells me everyday how much he miss you and we miss you too.Enjoy your eternity with Christ the King. My first appointment with Dr Jolley was several years ago. I was so impressed. The first thing he did when he came in to the exam room was to sit on the floor directly in front of me so he could closely examine my leg. He had an incredible bedside manner, that never made you feel like he was encroaching your personal space, yet it was very clear that he was willing to get up close and personal if needed, to give you the best care possible. Always concerned, you felt like you were his only appointment that day and he wasn't in any hurry to push you out the door so that he could move on to the next patient. He will be missed but Heaven will be taking great care of him

I have been a patient of Dr. Jolly for about 1 year. Not only did he help me, but other members of my family. Dr. Jolly was direct and got right to health issues. I appreciated his no nonsense approach. I had no idea that he was also enduring health issues. To his family...please know how many people he helped. May those special memories, sharing his life, comfort you in the days to follow. J. Staley
