Obituary of Robert A. Mingo

Robert (Bob) Mingo, 79 of Twin Falls died Thursday, Oct 132011 at St. Lukes’ Magic Valley Medical Center. Bob was born January 3, 1932, to Art and Bertha Mingo; he was the third son of five children. Bob went to school in Twin Falls where he enjoyed many sports and excelled in football and baseball. Bob graduated from Twin Fall High School in 1951. He was approached by the New York Yankee’s baseball club and attended the spring training camp in Boyes Springs, California. Before moving forward with his baseball career he was drafted and decided to join his brothers in the Navy. Bob spent four years with his older brother Chuck on the USS Brinkley Bass during the Korean Conflict; he often referred to these years as some of the most memorable. Bob married his high school sweetheart Irma Jean Cowham in September of 1952 and spent 59 wonderful years together raising three sons. He worked for Mountain Bell Telephone Co. for thirty years where he moved from telephone installer to Central office supervisor. He retired in 1986 at the early age of 54. Bob was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and the Pioneer Family Campers. He and Irma Jean traveled with friends to several destinations including; California, Mexico and Arizona, the last several winters were spent in Casa Grande, Arizona. Bob was fondly given the nick name of “Jingles” by his dear friend Bill Jensen. May 2011, was the last memorable trip that he and Irma Jean went on, was to their 60th high school class reunion in Jackson Hole, Wy. He was a life- time member of the St. Edwards Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and the Twin Falls Elks Club. His many interests included hunting with his brothers and sons, fishing with family and friends and golfing at the Twin Falls Municipal golf course. Many summer vacations were spent with his family at Redfish Lake, boating and water skiing. He loved to spend afternoons working around the house, wood carving, and working on remote control airplanes. Later in life golf at the MVGC became his main interest. Bob is survived by his wife IrmaJean, his three sons; Mike and Donna of Garden Valley Idaho, Mark Twin Falls and Mitch and Robin also of Twin Falls. His Grandsons; Devon (Nikki) Suckow, of Twin Falls, Cory Mingo of Boise. Granddaughter Lexi Eschenburg of Twin Falls. His great-grandson; Taryn Suckow. He is survived by his sister Kathleen Kramer, and brother- in-law Herb and Gladys Cowham and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his Parents and his three brothers. Dad was a devoted, loving husband, father, and family man. To him no one was a stranger and he was loved by all! There will be a Vigil service at Rosenau Funeral Home in Twin Falls, Monday October 17 at 7:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday October 18 at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church in Twin Falls followed by military honors at Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Bob’s name to the Twin Falls Golf Club for junior golf or to St. Edwards Soup Kitchen.
