Obituary of Larry Leonard Arbaugh
Please share a memory of Larry to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Larry Arbaugh, son of William I. “Bill” and Helen Marie Arbaugh was born on Feb. 9, 1946 in Twin Falls, ID. He passed away at his home Friday May 23, 2014, his hand held by his love of 48 years, Bonnie. Larry and his brother Gary (of Boise) grew up in King Hill, Idaho, where his love of the outdoors and hunting could truly be recognized. Larry graduated from Glenn’s Ferry High School in 1964 and went on to Idaho State University. Larry enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1966, and married Bonnie Thomas (Hammett) before leaving for Vietnam in 1967, returning March of 1968. He was very proud of his roots and his extended family in the King Hill/ Glenn’s Ferry area. Larry briefly worked for the U.S Postal Service, before starting his career as a professional salesman at Theisen’s Motors in Twin Falls. Larry never met a stranger and had a way with people. He soon had a reputation as one of the best salesman in Twin Falls selling cars and equipment for the remainder of his career. Larry was extremely proud and loving as a father welcoming son Travis Lee in August of 1970 and the family was complete with the birth of his daughter Alison “Ali” in December of 1977. Larry and his family spent the next years together hunting, fishing, camping, skiing, racing motorcycles, and riding horses. Larry experienced true joy with the births of his grandchildren, Cole William (son of Travis), and Gage and Elsie Summerfield (children of Ali). He then became known simply as “Papa”. He spent countless hours supporting his grandchildren at baseball, football, & soccer games. Larry was truly one of a kind, his wit and spirit matched by no one. He was a mentor and a teacher to anyone who was smart enough to listen. “Ornery” and “full of life” are the terms that have been used to describe him (among others not to be mentioned here). Larry is survived by his wife Bonnie, Son Travis Arbaugh, daughter Ali (Todd) Summerfield, grandchildren Cole Arbaugh, Gage and Elsie Summerfield, Brother Gary Arbaugh, niece Laura O’dell, and nephew Tyler Arbaugh. We all loved him and will miss him every day. A memorial service in Larry’s honor will be held on Thursday May 29, 2014 at 1pm at Rosenau Funeral Home, 2826 Addison Ave E, Twin Falls. Arrangements are under the direction of Rosenau Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers please send donations to The American Cancer Society, Shriner’s Hospital, or Idaho Youth Ranch.
