Obituary of Larry R. Sackett

Larry R. Sackett, 79, formerly of Filer and Twin Falls passed away September 2, 2011 in Yuma, AZ, from a short term illness. Larry was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was the first born to Orville and Ruth Sackett in Filer on February 21, 1932. He attended Moroa School through grade school then off to the Filer schools. As a young man he worked on the family farm. In 1949 he married Dora Jean Stutzman. They had 2 children. They were later divorced. In 1953 he joined the Army and was stationed in Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1955. Upon his return home he returned to the family farm. In 1960 he married Pat Pierson. She had 3 children which he raised as his own. Larry and Pat had one daughter. Larry is survived by his wife Pat of 51 years; his children Rex (Sharon) Sackett, Dona (Ed) Fuchs, Doug (Judy) Pollow, Debbie (Mike) Randall, Sande Miller and Lori Schmahl (Randy Lemmons) and 5 grandchildren Sara and Joe Randall, Maegan and Ryan Miller and Jake Schmahl. He is also survived by his siblings Gloria (Gene) Schiffler, Nancy Montgomery and O.D. (Barbara) Sackett and many nieces and nephews. The family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Assoc., Diabetes Assoc., Parkinson’s Research or the donor’s favorite charity. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 10, 2011 at Rosenau Funeral Home. Family and friends are encouraged to share their memories at www.rosenaufuneralhome.com
