Obituary of Esther Given Bland

Esther Jewell Given Bland was born June 19, 1924 in Twin Falls to Edith Harford and James C Given. She went to be with her Lord February 16, 2011. Esther graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1942. She married W. Otis Bland in 1946. In addition to being a loving wife and mother, Esther was a secretary for CK Brown, Independent Meat and Valley Vista Village, where she retired at age 71. Valley Vista Village recognized Esther by dedicating their library in her honor. Esther was a great cook and baker. She was famous for her home-cooked meals, hospitality and melt- in- your mouth apple pies and pastries. She loved camping, bird watching and spotting goats on Boulder Mountain. Esther was a longtime member of Valley Christian Church in Twin Falls where she held several offices. She was especially devoted to outreach ministries and was always ready to help others. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Otis, and brothers Kenneth and Lyle. Esther is survived by her two sons Doug (Amy) Bland of Tempe, Arizona and Alan (Lisa) Bland of Twin Falls; five grandchildren Aaron, Adam, Shad, Austin and Briana and four great-grandchildren, Dylen, Joe, Titus and Braylen. Memorial services for Esther will be held at 1 PM Saturday, February 19, 2011 at Rosenau Funeral Home, Twin Falls with Pastor Jim Evans officiating.
