Annie Pearl Tate, the lead Angel of all the Angels’ joined her court, December 13th, 2010. She was born on January 18, 1915 to Charlie and Lena Jones in Langston, Alabama. She spent her early years in Birmingham, Alabama with her two brothers Clifford and Charles. She was an excellent student and was offered a college scholarship to the University of Alabama but when the Great Depression hit she declined to accept to help her mother, father and siblings through the depression. Annie Pearl married the love of her life Claude Ervin Tate on December 5, 1934. Claude worked for the Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton Corporation building Dams. His profession took his family to many states and many adventures, being part of every Dam Project from the Tennessee Valley all the way to the Columbia River Gorge and the Hoover Dam on the Colorado River. Annie Pearl started her first career as a wife and mother to three children. Claude became a paralyzed quadriplegic in a car accident and Annie Pearl started her second career as his caregiver in 1967. She cared for him day and night until his death in 1973. After his passing she moved back to Alabama where she nursed her oldest brother and then her parents until their deaths. She moved to Twin Falls in 1985 to be near her daughter. She touched the lives of everyone she met with her gracious southern charm. She was a true "Southern Bell". Known as “Granny” and “Aunt Pearl” to countless children and adults. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Twin Falls and made many friends there. She is survived by three children, Claude Jr, (Karin) of Edmonds, Washington, Larry (Joyce) of Vancouver, Washington, and Mary ( John) Jenkins of Twin Falls, Idaho, five grandchildren, James L Tate Jr, Robert Tate, Michael John Jenkins (Jeannie), Monica (Ty) Weidrich and Stephen (Summer) Tate, six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews throughout Alabama, Tennessee and Georgia. There will be a celebration of her life on Thursday, December 16, 2010 at 1 PM at Rosenau Funeral Home, 2826 Addison Ave. E., Twin Falls.
