On May 8, 2010 our beloved Dorothy Ruth Jones, 88 passed away peacefully at Cedar Draw Assisted Living in Filer, ID. Ruth was born in Clyde, Georgia to William Henry Smith and Mary Blanche Nasworthy on December 6, 1921, and was the second of six children. She attended grade school and graduated from Ways high School in Richmond Hill, Georgia. While working at a local restaurant called High Tide Café she met the love of her life, Robert L. Jones. He was stationed there while in the Air force. In 1953 Bob was discharged and he returned to Idaho, and then sent for her. She left Georgia, came to Idaho and made her home there. They married in Elko, Nevada on October 24, 1953. Together they had two children, Bobby D. and Sherry B. Ruth worked for the school lunch program in Twin Falls and Boise, ID. Her last job was at Heritage Retirement Center where she worked for 25 years before retiring. She was a member of the Eastern Star and loved to go fishing with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed. Ruth was a beloved wife, dedicated mother, and a truly good friend. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and all who were a part of her life. Ruth is survived by her son Bobby D. (Kimberly) Jones, daughter Sherry (Mick) Kirkland, two granddaughters Monica Kirkland (Donavon) Hurd and Jessica Kirkland (Sean) Seely; two twin grandsons Owain and Tristain Jones; two great grandchildren Michael Hurd and Melodee Hurd and one sister Janette Smith Haynie. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert L. Jones; her parents William Henry and Mary Blanche Smith; three sisters Estelle Davis, Millie Smith, Linda Basham and one brother W.H. Smith Jr. Memorial services will be held 1:30 p.m., Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Rosenau Funeral Home, 2826 Addison Ave. E., Twin Falls with Ruth’s nephew Rev. Sam C. Davis Jr. of Richmond Hill, GA, officiating. The family suggests memorials be made to Cedar Draw Assisted Living, 4094 N. 2100 E., Filer, ID 83328.
