Please share a memory of Christina to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Christina Marie (Kevan) Varney passed away in her childhood home surrounded by family and loved ones after a long battle with cancer on August 13th, 2014. Christina was born April 29th, 1978 in Moscow, Idaho to Tony & Candida Kevan. She had a tremendous will to live and lived life to the fullest. She had a bubbling happy personality and was the life of the party. Everyone who knew her will remember her from her beautiful smile that lit up the room and her loud joyous laughter which was infectious. After living the first year of her life in Moscow, her family moved to Twin Falls ID where she lived the remainder of her childhood on the family farm. She attended Hollister Elementary where her favorite subjects were PE and recess. She will be remembered by many of her elementary classmates as being tougher and faster than all of the boys. She continued her education at Filer Middle School and graduated from Filer High School. Christina lived briefly in Tucson AZ, Los Angeles CA, and Boise ID, but soon realized she missed her family and moved back to Twin Falls. Christina married Dale Varney in 2000. They had one daughter, Sophia Marie on March 9, 2005 but were later divorced. Her daughter Sophia was the center of Christina's life. Being a mother was her greatest pride and joy. Christina attended every school production, sports activity, and dance recital Sophia was involved in until she was physically unable in her last 3 months of life. Christina enjoyed shopping, cooking, swimming and scrapbooking, all with Sophia by her side. They loved each other "to the moon and back." Christina was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Richard C Kevan and Fernando Del Valle. She is survived by her daughter Sophia, fiancée Darek Caufield, parents Anthony and Candida (Del Valle) Kevan, two sisters Alisha (Jay) Baithavong, Leah (Matt) Bascue, grandmothers Carmen (Vazquez) Kevan, and Gloria (Del Valle) Labine and many loving uncles, aunts, and cousins. The Kevan family would like to thank the staff at the St. Luke’s Mountain States Tumor Institute and St. Luke's Magic Valley Hospice, especially nurse Ellie for their incredible care and love over the past few years and in her final days. A viewing will be held for family and friends on Wednesday August 20th at Rosenau Funeral Home from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM and her funeral will be conducted at Bethel Temple Apostolic Church on Thursday August 21st at 11:00 AM with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sophia Varney trust account at Farmers National Bank.
