Eugene U. Daniels
“I Got News For You”
Eugene “Gene” U. Daniels came to rest on December 30, 2014 at St Luke’s Magic Valley regional Medical Center in Twin Falls due to complications following an auto accident on Christmas Eve. Gene was born on June 17, 1920 to Robert and Pearl Daniels in Kellerton, Iowa. When he was 15 the family moved from Iowa to Filer, Idaho. It was here that he met his first wife, Marge Steenson. They had 2 children, Marvin Lee and C. Deanne “Dee”. He also had one stepson, Richard Steenson. Later, Gene married Ellen Diaz and raised her son, Paul. He is survived by his wife, Martha Webb; one daughter, Dee (Jerry) Packer; one daughter-in-law Kazie Diaz; one brother, Jack; one sister, Agnes Green; 7 grandchildren, Rod (Jane Hammett) O’Gorman, Tracie (Bill Becker) O’Gorman, Kerry (Bruce) Hixson, Kenny (Diane) Daniels, Tricia (Desmond) Wilstead, Sandy (Troy) Seaman and Paula Seaman. He also has 10 great grandchildren and 14 nieces and nephews. Gene was a veteran of WWII and served from October 1944 to January 1946. He was an avid fisherman and loved taking his fifth-wheel to Salmon Dam to camp and fish. Grandpa also enjoyed hunting and could whip up a batch of Divinity that would put most women to shame! His true enjoyment came from being a Shriner where he earned the nickname “Grumpy Corndogger” from the team he worked with raising money for the Shriner’s Hospital for Children in Salt Lake City. Grandpa was also a proud member of Masonic Lodge #94. All hobbies aside, he lived for his children, grandchildren and the love of his life, Martha, who he married on November 13, 1998. With this union, he acquired an extended family. We would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses and staff that gave special care to Grandpa, with a special thank you to Sid. We’re sorry he didn’t get home to make you Divinity. “Grandpa, I got news for you – We love you and miss you. You’re forever in our hearts!”
The family suggests memorials be made to the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children, Fairfax Road at Virginia St., SLC, UT 84103. Services will be held Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 11:00 am. Services are under the direction of Rosenau Funeral Home. Friends and family are encouraged to share their memories at www.rosenaufuneralhome.com
