Obituary of Lowell Aubrey Gard

Lowell Aubrey Gard of Twin Falls passed away at St Luke’s Magic Valley Regional Medical Center on Sunday, January 18, 2015. Lowell was born in Fisk, Missouri on June 10, 1934 to Victor Paul and Nellie Gard. From Fisk he moved to the Columbia River areas and worked in sawmills and logging. He was a lumber grader and a log sealer until he was drafted for the Korean War. He joined the Navy and became an aircraft mechanic working on jets, helicopters, and reciprocating engines. After the Navy, he attended college in Portland, Oregon and met an Idaho girl named Naomi Herron. They married on August 31, 1957. They had two children, Michelle and Daran. Naomi Gard died of cancer on April 28, 1981. On February 19, 1983, he married Mary Carol (Hill) Langley and added three more children to the family. They traveled all 50 states, the Mexican states and several provinces of Canada as well as Puerto Rico, Fiji and Israel. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed many hours hunting and fishing. He was a life-long reader of the scriptures and published two books on various religious topics. He had various interests in life: farmer, farm consultant, realtor, insurance agent, pilot, and ordained minister. He retired from the U.S. Postal service after 20 years. Survivors include five children: Michelle (Tim) Chadd, Daran (Jeannine) Gard, Brian (Pamela) Langley, Janna (Terry) Reeves, Craig (Jill) Langley, and ex daughter in law Robin (Mel) Birdwell, along with 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, his parents, his sister, his brother, and one grandson. The family suggests memorials be made to the Buhl Boys & Girls Club. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 23, 2015 at Rosenau Funeral Home with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
