Charles “Chuck” Henry Schoonover, 84 of Twin Falls passed away on Monday February 2, 2015 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Chuck was born on April 16, 1930 in Hillsdale, Michigan to Zeffie and Darrell Schoonover. Chuck was raised by his grandmother Ella Palmer and his uncle Otto Palmer. He attended Buhl High School and joined the US Navy during the Korean War. Chuck graduated from Twin Falls Business College in 1968. Chuck married Theresa A. Martindale on December 4, 1953 in Buhl, Idaho. He was a lifelong member of the VFW and a longtime member of the American Legion. Chuck is survived by his wife Theresa Schoonover of Twin Falls; sons LaVern (Madelyn) Schoonover of Seattle, Washington, Arlen Schoonover of Twin Falls; daughters Juanita (Randy) Douet of Punta Gorda, Florida, LaRee (Richard) Pernick of Lakewood, California; 11 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. He is also survived by 3 sisters Ruby “Mitzi” Harner of Buhl, Idaho, Luanna Bartholomew of Michigan, Bobbie Miller of Oklahoma and by 2 brothers Virgil “Gene” Sawyers of Chicago, Illinois and Edward Schoonover of Nevada. Chuck is preceded in death by his parents, one brother James Sawyers; and one grandson Darrell K. Schoonover. A celebration of life gathering will be held on Friday February 13, 2015 from 1-3 pm at Rosenau Funeral Home, 2826 Addison Ave E. Twin Falls, ID 83301. Inurnment will take place at a later date at the Veterans Cemetery in Boise, Idaho. Memorial contributions may be made in Chuck’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Rosenau Funeral Home.
