Mary Alice Catherine Burgess. Aka: Alice “Sweety” Burgess June 2, 1920 – March 28, 2014 Alice, 93 passed away Friday March 28, 2014 at home with her daughter and granddaughter at her side. Alice was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada on June 2, 1920 to Nelson Herbert Greer and Florence “Dolly” Hickey. She was the eldest of 7 children. Alice was blessed with a life both in Canada and the United States. She married Bert Green 1937-1964. This marriage produced 2 daughters. Alice was a single mother and at times worked more than 1 job at a time to support herself and her daughters. She managed to raise 2 strong loving women. After the girls where grown she married Samuel “Smokey” Stevens. Smokey passed suddenly from a brain aneurism in 1973. She then married the love of her life Corbin “Butch” Burgess in November of 1975. Butch later became ill with cancer. Alice lovingly cared for him through his illness of 10 yrs, he eventually passed in July of 1987. Alice worked a variety of jobs through her long career from waitressing, managing coffee shops and cooking at the Basilica in Carmel California. When she finally retired she moved from Santa Cruz, CA to San Diego, CA to be closer family. In 2005 she followed retired daughter and son in law to Idaho. This moved her close to grandkids, great grandkids and great-great grandkids. Alice is survived by daughters Dallas Ann Young (Robert/deceased) of Twin Falls, Id. Lucretia “Lucky” Micciche (Joseph) of Phoenix, Az. Grandchildren Michael Hutchison, Linda Collins (Tony), Scott Hutchison (Jennifer), Gregory Frandsen, Mark Frandsen (Begona), 13 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren. Sister Audrey Greer, many nieces and nephews in US and Canada. Alice was preceded in death by parents, husbands, 3 brothers, 2 sisters, granddaughter Annette Montoya and grandson Bradley Frandsen. A special “thank you” to the nurses at St Luke’s ICU (Jered and Temple) for the wonderful care they gave not only to Alice but to her daughter Dallas as she stayed at her mother’s side. Thank you for your patients with family as they came and went. It was important that the grand children and great grandchildren living close by got to spend time by her bed and say their goodbyes. Services will be at 2pm Friday, April 4th 2014 at Rosenau Funeral Home, 2826 Addison Ave E. Twin Falls, ID.
