Obituary of Michael P. Gray

Please share a memory of Michael to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Michael Pinney Gray On the afternoon of May 15, 2015, our loving father passed away peacefully while being comforted by family members at Ashley Manor in Eagle, Idaho. Michael was 75 years old. Michael was born in Twin Falls, Idaho on February 7, 1940. He was the second child and son of Gordon and Catherine Gray. Our Dad lived a very full life. In his early years, Dad had the privilege of travelling with his parents around the country on their many business trips. He was a model student during his elementary, junior and senior high school days. His athleticism made him a valuable team member on the basketball court and golf course. A favorite family story recounts the time he made a game winning half-court shot for Twin Falls High School. His mom, watching from the stands, actually fainted after the shot and had to be carried out of the gym! He was selected as Governor of Boys State, representing Idaho in Washington, DC and received many awards for his outstanding citizenship. He went on to college at St. John’s University in Minnesota and took an interest in politics after graduation, working as an aide to Congressman Ralph Harding in Washington, DC. With aspirations of becoming a lawyer, his career path changed when his father, Gordon, decided to retire and offered him the opportunity to begin training for the presidency of the family company, Twin Falls Title and Trust. Dad’s experience working with our Grandpa was surely a dream come true for both. Dad continued working in the title and trust business for several years until starting his own real estate company, Mike Gray Realty. The company thrived and Dad enjoyed working with friends and family. He continued the rest of his career working in real estate in varying capacities. Professionally, his dedication and service to the community was honored with the Distinguished Citizen Award sponsored by the Times News; City of Twin Falls Young Businessman of the Year award; served on the Twin Falls City Council; Twin Falls County Fair And Rodeo Board of Commissioners; Director of Operations for the Idaho Housing Agency and Executive Director for the Idaho Real Estate Commission. Dad was well known for his warmth and kindness to all. As a father to his children, Tina, Mitch, Tim, Travis and Alison, he was caring and loving. Seeing the happiness on his children’s faces was his life’s mission. His crazy sense of humor kept our family laughing. He could offer well-placed levity and perspective to any situation, along with a cheesy joke! We have great memories of our time together with Dad that we’ll cherish forever. His hobbies included helping others, playing golf, following Boise State athletics, talking politics and anything related to his kids and grandkids. He is survived by his brother, Gordon, and wife, Hanna, nephew Kimo, great-nephew Ryan James; his daughter, Tina Hagood, grandkids Jacob, Taylor, Drake and Tyson; his son, Mitch Gray, and wife, Tara, granddaughter Zoe; his son, Tim Gray and wife, Angie, grandkids Ryan, Jade, Connor, and Mitchell; his son Travis Gray and wife, Denise, grandkids Eden, Brock, Addison, and Carson; his daughter Alison Devers and grandkids Alijah, Michael, Jasmine, and Kobe. Our family would like to extend warm gratitude to the nurses and staff at Ashley Manor as well as Legacy Hospice for the care they provided and friendships they shared with Dad.A service for Dad will be at 11:00 am Tuesday, May 26, in Twin Falls at Rosenau Funeral Home, 2826 Addison Ave E.
