Obituary of Laurence L. Walls
Please share a memory of Laurence to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with deep and heavy sadness that we announce the death of Retired Master Sergeant Lawrence (Larry) L. Walls, who passed on May 20th from this mortal life into eternal life where he could spend eternity with his beloved wife Ellie. Dad was 86 years young and came into this world on September 28, 1928 in Madison, WI.
Larry was a veteran, serving in the Army Air Corp which later became the Air Force. He served during World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War. Larry served as a B-17 Tail Gunner, flew over 7 missions into Germany, protected the battlegrounds doing fire protection and rescue, and at the end of 26 years he ended his career as a Senior Non-Commission Officer and Master Sergeant where he earned several medals for his dedication and bravery. The discipline and patriotism he learned in the Air Force never left him, as friends and family will attest.
He was cowboy boots and fancy dancing with mom. He was soup and potatoes and potatoes and soup. He was John Wayne. He was the promise of a long talk on a short drive. He was a grandpa to his grandchildren and the papa to his great-grandchildren. He was the teacher of many lessons. He was not enough days. He was whiskers and encouragement. He was Boise State Football on Saturday nights and St. Louis Cardinals during the summer. He was the sweet smell of pipe tobacco. He was the words of wisdom and love from the longest book, and he was the man that first taught us what love looked like. To sum it all up he was THE MAN!
Larry is survived by five sons: Wally (April) Walls of Enterprise Oregon, Terry (Delores) Walls of Meridian, Idaho, Danny (Marjorie) Walls of Jacobsburg Ohio, Randy(Paula) Walls of Buhl Idaho, Todd Walls of Paul Idaho, and one daughter Kay (Danny) Goodnight of Twin Falls Idaho. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, all of his nieces and nephews, and one sister Mary Ellen Utley of El Cajon, California.
Larry is preceded in death by the love of his life Eleanor Skeen-Walls of 52 years on June 3, 2014, his brothers and sisters, and his precious granddaughter Marty Jean Walls.
Larry Walls was a Hero to our country and was proud to serve this Country for 26 years. To this day he still remains a hero that we all call Dad.
Services will be held at Rosenau Funeral Home on Saturday May 30th at 11am and he will be laid to rest with the love of his life at the Paul Cemetery in Paul Idaho. He will be receiving full Military rights by the Mountain Home Air Force Base Honor Guard and will be honored by the Patriot Guard Riders on procession. The family suggests that donations can be made to the Patriot Guard Riders with a memo saying funds are designated for use in Idaho..
