Obituary of Roger LaRoy Ursenbach

Please share a memory of Roger to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Roger LaRoy Ursenbach, age 56, of San Jose, CA and Twin Falls passed away peacefully at home, in loving arms of his wife and parents on August 11, 2015, after a long battle with cancer. Roger was born in Moses Lake, Washington on February 6, 1959 to Roy Conrad and Freda (Prentice) Ursenbach. He was the second child of five children. As a child the family moved every few years due to his father serving in the Air Force. Roger always felt that his job was to protect his family while his father was away from home, even keeping a baseball bat near his bed. Because of moving he struggled in school but was so proud to get his GED and later to become a Computer Programmer, highly qualified in his specialized field for 25 years, until cancer prevented him from working. Roger loved music and playing his guitar. He loved serving and supporting others, especially with computers and was very patient working with others. Roger was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served an honorable mission in the California Ventura Mission. Roger had a great love for family, and doing and teaching genealogy, even going to Ursenbach Switzerland with his wife, Wendy, to learn more about his family name. Roger has three children, Donald, who were reunited after 32 years, Shaye and Roger Lee. After failed marriages he married Woei Wen “Wendy” Jinq. They loved traveling, family and serving in the LDS church and community. Roger loved Twin Falls and he and Wendy volunteered on the Search and Rescue Team and he was the Commander for two years. He was a Relator and also worked at Dell while it was open. His wife, Wendy, has been a faithful friend and companion throughout their marriage and especially the many times he had cancer, especially the past three years he has suffered greatly. Roger is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and a nephew. He is survived by his parents, Roy Conrad and Freda Ursenbach. Children Donald (Terri) Piatt of Scottsdale, AZ, Shaye (Matt) Garrison of Kimberly, ID, and Roger Lee (Jackie) Ursenbach of Anaheim, Ca; sister Tami Ursenbach of Price, UT; brothers Brent (Lorna) Ursenbach of Huntington Beach, CA, Vernon (Kristina) and Aaron (Angela) Ursenbach both of Twin Falls, ID. He is also survived by grandchildren Aaron and MaKenzie Piatt, Thomas and Ethan Garrison, aunts, uncles and cousins. The family would like to thank Seasons Hospice in San Jose, CA for their loving and compassionate care of Roger and Wendy and friends who have shown so much love and compassion to them.
