Obituary of Jack D Pierce

Twin Falls / Jack D. Pierce, 82, of Twin Falls, and formerly of Filer, died Monday, September 7, 2015, at Visions Hospice House in Jerome. Jack was born November 23, 1932 in Twin Falls, ID., the son of Luther C. and Mary E. Pierce of Filer. He was raised on the family farm south of Filer, and attended the Filer school system. Jack graduated from Filer High School in 1950, and continued his education at the University of Idaho for the next 2 years. Jack married his wife of 63 years, Dona Lee Leeper on February 2, 1953, in Filer. One month later, in March of 1953, Jack reported for active duty in the United States Army. Upon completion of basic training, Jack served a two year tour in Korea. He received an honorable discharge March 10, 1955. Jack returned to Filer in March 1955. He and Dona moved to the family farm, south of Filer. Together, they had two children, Alan Pierce and Paula Pierce. Jack and Dona continued to farm until 1963, at which time they decided to pursue different careers. Jack worked for a short time as Bean Growers Warehouse in Filer, as a Field Man. He then moved into the banking business with Fidelity National Bank in Twin Falls, working in the Trust Department. Sometime later, Jack moved across the street to the Twin Falls Bank and Trust as a Commercial Credit Officer. While at the Bank and Trust, Jack was active in the Idaho Bankers Association, serving for a number of years on the Ag Banking Committee. He was also active in the Twin Falls County Fair Fat Stock sale, Filer City Council, and a host of other civic activities. Jack retired February 28, 1995. Jack and Dona moved from Filer to Twin Falls in April of 1999. He enjoyed golf at the Clear Lake Country Club, and caring for his yard. Jack seemed to know everyone in the valley, and always had time to visit with his many friends. Jack is survived by his wife Dona Pierce, son Alan Pierce of Twin Falls, his daughter Paula (Scott) Vye of Selah, WA, his sister Mary Lou Lancaster of Pocatello, and his two granddaughters, Amy Pierce of Boise, and Jessica Vye of Selah, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Mary Pierce. Jack’s family would like to extend a very special “Thank You” to the entire staff at Hospice Visions, Inc. for their loving care and service that was above and beyond. At Jack’s request, no services will take place, and cremation is under the direction of Rosenau Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donation to Hospice Visions, Inc. in Twin Falls.
