Thelma Dorothy Woody Brown, 96 passed away peacefully with family at her side on Monday, September 28, 2015. Thelma was born on November 7, 1918 in Hagerman, Idaho to Charles and Blanch Woody. She was the youngest of five children. Thelma resided in Hagerman until she attended Albion Normal College for one year. She was active in sports, especially basketball. Her love of basketball introduced her to her future husband, her basketball coach. On October 29, 1938 Thelma married a handsome young teacher and coach, Harold Brown. They went on to become the parents of 4 children: Chuck (Naomi) Brown, Beverly (Roy)Holloway, Frances (Del) Kohtz and Jerry (Debbie) Brown.Thelma was a cook at Robert Stuart Junior High and Twin Falls High School. She loved working around children. Thelma had many interests and pursued them with gusto. She loved collecting arrowheads, fishing, hunting, golfing, playing pinochle and Tonk with her friends and traveling with her husband. Harold coached American Legion Baseball; Thelma was always at his side, traveling thousands of miles supporting her husband and the team. She and her husband enjoyed Eastern Star. They were a spectacular site dressed in their finest. Thelma loved dancing with Harold and often attended dances at the Elks lodge. Thelma also enjoyed bowling. She bowled with the same team of ladies for 50 years. They were known as the “ladies” of Western Music and were known by all who bowled in the league. Thelma was very creative. She especially enjoyed painting and ceramics. Many friends and family have in their possession lovely works of art created by Thelma. Thelma’s greatest passion was to collect angels. She collected over 2000 angels and was even featured in the Times News showcasing her collection. Thelma dearly loved her friends and family. She attended many concerts, recitals and sporting events supporting her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an amazing mother, grandmother and friend. She will be missed, always held close in our hearts and remembered with love. Thelma’s children, 14 grandchildren, 32 great grand children, and many nieces and nephews survive Thelma. She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, one great grandchild and her husband.
A memorial service in Thelma’s honor will be held at the Rosenau Funeral Home at 2826 Addison Ave. E in Twin Falls at 10:30 on Friday October 2, 2015.
