Obituary of Troy Peterson

Please share a memory of Troy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ronald "Troy" Peterson, 48, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 16, 2017, surrounded by his family. Troy was born August 2, 1968 in Jerome Idaho to Ronnie and Rockie Peterson. He joined his older sister Shelly and was later joined by his younger brother Shawn. He grew up on ranches in Idaho and Nevada, attending Carey and Shoshone High Schools. He was active in football, FFA, basketball, track, and high school rodeo. He attended CSI for a short time and then took off on the rodeo trail, where he rodeoed in the ICA until he sustained a significant injury in December of 1995. Shortly thereafter, he met the love of his life Kelly Anne Kimber; it was love at first sight. They were married in January of 1997. He and Kelly moved to Southern Oregon, where he worked logging with his Uncle Scott. In 2013, they returned to Twin Falls, Idaho to be near family. Troy loved to fish, hunt, camp, cook, and spend time with his friends and family. His favorite spot in the whole world was fishing on the Rogue River in Oregon. Many afternoons were spent fishing for salmon or steelhead with his wife and family. He was especially happy when he was with his nieces/nephews, and great nieces/ nephews. He was a talented leatherworker, artist, and poet. In Troy's own words, a jack of all trades, a master of none. He is survived by his soulmate and wife of 20 years, Kelly Peterson; his mother and step-father, Rick and Rockie Ustick; his father, Ron(Anita) Peterson; his sister, Shelly Peterson Marolf; his brother, Shawn Peterson; his in-laws, Elmer Blaikie & Penelope Parker, and Jim Kimber. He is also survived by his niece, Tackett (Andy) Hathaway; nephews, Tucker Hathaway, Jasper Peterson and Taylor Peterson. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and great nieces and nephews, as well as his three fur babies, Dolly, Tippy, and Buttons. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Cleo and Sybille Peterson, his maternal grandparents, Juhl Kauffman, and Ray and Juanita Kirkland. He was also preceded in death by his two favorite dogs, Polar and Sadie. A celebration of life potluck will be held Sunday, March, 26, 2017 from 3-6 pm at the Elks Lodge, Hwy 93 & 200 S. in Jerome. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity or the Troy Peterson Memorial Scholarship Fund, (320 Main Ave. North, Twin Falls, ID 83301). Troy genuinely cared for everyone, forever expanding the size of his family to encompass them all , always parting, with "Be safe, and call me when you get home." He called, we know he is home now. Arrangements are under the direction of Rosenau Fuenral Home.
