Obituary of Norma Lou Herzinger

Norma Lou Herzinger, 86 of Castleford, Idaho, passed away on Sunday January 5, 2014 at St. Luke’s Magic Valley Medical Center. She was born on August 21, 1927 in Buhl, Idaho to William and Grace (DeMoss) Stample. She grew up in Buhl and graduated from Buhl High School in 1946. After graduation she went to nursing school at St. Alphonso’s in Boise and also went on to psychiatric training at the State Hospital in Salem, Oregon. On November 14, 1948 she married Loren Herzinger in Twin Falls. Together they farmed for 2 years southeast of Buhl, and in 1951 purchased a farm in Castleford where they have lived ever since. Norma Lou belonged to many civic, church and card groups serving in many capacities in each. She also served on the election board for many years. She was an attendee at Calvery Chapel Assembly of God Church in Buhl. Norma Lou was her husbands “gal Friday” on the farm. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years Loren Herzinger of Castleford; two sons Ranse (Teresa) Herzinger of Ford, Washington and Kim (Tamara) Herzinger of Twin Falls; two daughters Cindy (Nelson) Pederson of Salem, Oregon and Dena (Rick) Easterday of Castleford. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Norma is preceded in death by her parents and her husband’s parents. A community gathering in Norma Lou’s memory will be held on Friday January 10, 2014, from noon to 2:00 PM at the Castleford Community Center. A private family interment will be held at the West End Cemetery in Buhl, Idaho. Donations may be made in Norma Lou’s honor to the Castleford QRU or to a charity of choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Dustin Godfrey and the staff at Rosenau Funeral Home.
