Obituary of Melvin Michael Mueller

Melvin Michael Mueller February 5, 1929-December 2, 2017 Melvin Michael Mueller, age 88, passed away December 2, 2017 with his beloved wife and family by his side. He was born in Tripp, South Dakota to Otto and Anna Mueller. He grew up and attended school in Parkston, SD. Mel served in the Army until he was released with an honorable medical discharge. He met and married the love of his live, Jean Karlene Welfl in San Bernardino, CA on November 30, 1951. He managed Fergen Hardware with his brother Tom for twenty years. Then, Mel and Jean moved their family to Idaho where he worked for Standard Plumbing for a while. He later enjoyed working for Robertson Supply from its ground up until he retired in 1984. Mel was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandpa. His eyes always sparkled and wore a friendly smile. He always looked the good in people. He was an active member of Our Savior Lutheran Church and loved to serve others. One of Mel's passions was music. He was a member of the Magic Chords Barber Shoppers for twenty years. He was instrumental in the creation of the famous Tater Pig the club sold at the county fair every year. His other hobbies included woodworking, camping and fishing (with grandkids), and tinkering on yard projects. He made the best hand-cranked ice cream and made sure all took their turn churning! He is survived by his wife Jean, four sons; Paul (Lora), Mark (Gaelene), Doug (Karen), and Phil (Debbie): brother Floyd, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Memorial service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church Friday, December 15, at 11 a.m. with a luncheon following. The family has asked in lieu of flowers to please donate to Alzheimer's Association Greater Idaho Chapter, P.O.B. 96011 Washington, DC 20090-6011. Arrangements are under the direction of Rosenau Funeral Home and Crematory.
