Obituary of Patricia B Klevmoen

Patricia Anne Blair Klevmoen, 65, beloved wife and mother, passed away peacefully surrounded by her husband and daughters on Tuesday January 10, 2018. Patt was born in Burley, Idaho on May 6, 1952 to Russell and Rose Blair. She was the second of five children and grew up on the family farm in Rupert. As a teenager she worked at the local A&W and loved to listen to music during her down time. After graduating from Minico High School in 1970 she enrolled at Idaho State University where she met her husband, Roy, after seeing him parked on the sidewalk under her dorm blasting music. Instead of being one of the girls yelling at him to shut up and be quiet she gave Roy her phone number and he called a few days later. They dated for a while and then went their separate ways when Roy decided not to re-enroll at ISU. Patt stayed in Pocatello for a while working and going to school for a bit longer before moving back to Rupert. During her time back in Rupert she worked for Simplot and took a trip to Mexico City with some girlfriends. In late 1976 she and Roy reconnected and began dating again. After a year together they decided to drive down to Las Vegas and elope. They drove all night from Idaho to Las Vegas after getting off work. When they pulled into town they checked into a Holiday Inn on the Strip where they took a nap before going to get their marriage license. While waiting for the license, which was around 10 p.m. because the office issuing marriage licenses was only closed for an hour, they clipped a coupon from a local publication to save money on the service. They were married on December 24, 1977 at Circus Circus. Their honeymoon was a week spent in southern California with friends. Before finally settling on the family farm around 1980 Patt and Roy spent about a year in Salt Lake City and then Twin Falls. During this time Patt worked at a couple different grocery stores in the area. Sam was born in April 1981. When Annie was born in May of 1983 Patt decided to stay at home with both girls until Annie entered kindergarten. She went back to work at a Maverik gas station part time since she was trying to go back to school and study for an accounting degree. She was commuting to the College of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls for classes and ultimately it became too difficult to manage a job, school, and a family with 2 small children so she decided to make her family her priority. Once she was no longer in school she was hired on full time at Rangen, Inc. and was there for 25 years before retiring in 2013. By this point both girls were mostly self-sufficient, other than needing the occasional babysitter after school. Patt's job at Rangen's allowed her to be home in the evenings for dinner every night and the freedom to attend Sam's band concerts and Annie's baseball games which was important to her. She said on many occasions that, even if the girls thought it was boring, she loved taking them with her on mundane errands simply because she loved spending time with them. Over the last decade Patt learned how to work the pivots on the farm and declared herself "Pivot Princess". Roy would take extended trips during the summer which sometimes required her to make adjustments to the watering schedule in order the keep the farm going. Patt also became quite the traveler later in life. Sam's husband, David, was in the Air Force and received an assignment to Germany in 2009. She hated flying but made the effort to visit Europe 3 times over 4 years in order to see Sam. One of those trips was a family trip that included Annie and her family to Barcelona, Spain. Several trips were made with the Klevmoen family to various places around the country such as the Oregon coast, Louisiana and the East Coast to watch the turning of the leaves. After retirement she and Roy became SnowBirds and spent the last few winters down in Arizona and the South West in general. Her last big trip was a cruise through the Panama Canal that took them down to ports in Mexico and South America. To all who knew her, Patt was an outspoken but lovable woman that would fight and sacrifice anything for her family. She will be remembered as an avid reader, whether in print or on Kindle. Roy and the girls bought Patt her first Kindle and you could hardly pry it out of her hands from that time forward. She loved cooking shows on PBS and the imported British comedy shows that came on on Saturday night. Her greatest joy, though, was undoubtedly her grandkids. She was so proud of Tina's kids, their success in college and in their personal life, that she always bragged about them every chance she got. She loved being Ya-Ya to Sam and Annie's kids and she spent as much time with them as she could. Patt is preceded in death by her brother Charlie. She is survived by her parents Russell and Rose Blair of Rupert, ID; her husband Roy Klevmoen of Wendell, ID; and daughters Tina Rojas (Israel) of Idaho Falls, ID, Samantha Farley (David) of Clearfield, UT and Annie Dalrymple (Chad) of Twin Falls, ID and her 6 grandchildren Jose, Dari, Al, Owen, Ellis, and Ethan. She is also survived by her siblings Kate Gomez (Allan) of Jerome, ID, Bill Blair (Lori) of Rupert, ID, and Betsy Parkin (Kenny) of Rupert, ID and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service is scheduled for Tuesday January 16, 2018 at 11 am to be held at Rosenau's Funeral Home in Twin Falls, ID.
